Climbing for idiots confirmed, no different from the last twenty years of game design.
So dedicated to the tedious pick axe from the last trilogy that she pulls the giant thing out of nowhere. In the Survivor games she carried it on her leg. I can forgive the big guns in the backpack because they're not used all the time like a tool for environmental traversal.

My thing is- I really liked the reboot series of games a lot, and I either never played or just don't remember the originals, so I'm looking forward to it. Certainly not a release-day buy but I'm hoping it's good and I can see myself in 2027 remembering it exists and playing it.

I did play the demo but I that second boss in the clip was interesting. Game looks good.
But....
I read elsewhere that the biggest feedback from the demo was that it was too easy! And the game devs said they will take that into account and adjust accordingly. But it took me a few tries to defeat the demo's final boss enemy so now I'm worried it's gonna be some more sweaty git gud bullshit.
Ultimately I'm still in the wait-and-see mode, which is the correct mode.

They're probably just gonna add a hard mode, and move on. The end demo boss took me three tries. The people who are saying the game is too easy, are action game junkies. Those with much higher skill level than most others.
In the original Tomb Raider the T-rex just ran towards you from the back of the area (out of the fog?) and the boss fight was on, all completely in game.
In the Anniversary remake the T-rex appeared in a cutscene, ruining the shock of it, and the fight had quick time events.
In the third anniversary remake it starts as a cutscene again and turns into a linear chase. It's not even a boss anymore.
Have to be honest, I was actually physically mad when I watched that T-rex chase, after hearing the idiot talk about the return of talent points, skills and crafting earlier, DNA from the mediocre Survivor games. I didn't hit anything or curse, but I scowled and breathed somewhat noisily, fed up with gaming going nowhere. Everyone sells out and makes boring, banal shit.

Probably not good for Lara Croft to comment on the weirdness of old Tomb Raider. The devs, of course, have to because they're obsessed with realism. Imagine all her commentary in Area 51 in Tomb Raider III. Would they keep the alien?
Looks good to me. With an easy option for combat and a $30 sale price someday, I will enjoy a week with this.
Just to give some idea of how rough things are at Microsoft, they've been running at a 3% accountability margin delivery. That's...so low as to be basically statistical noise.
Not sure if it was posted here but Nadella's been whining about XBox not making profit and there are rumors about MS considering spinning off XBox into a subsidiary (which, I'll be honest, I dunno what that means practically).
There may come a point where MS just has to decide if gaming can be a loss leader, like how Apple and Amazon treats their entertainment production outfits.
MS are contributing to making hardware too expensive for XBox to sell consoles. It's so extremely silly.
I've checked in with a friend who's experienced in corporate matters (accountant for a fairly large company) and I've been told that this is the first step to completely separating XBOX into its own entity that can be sold off.
At least they outlasted the worst of the console war years. Don’t think anyone but the most ardent Sony ponies would give two shits anymore. Kind of a big meh, and mostly left wondering what if anything will fill the void to help restore some balance in the industry.
