I've known about this for some time now. I might borrow my friends GameFly account to play this with them.

That has got to be the most amazing thing I've seen and the absolute most horrendous thing I've seen. Bravo, you have just broken my brain.

OT: It's about damn time we get a game parodying the industry, you always wonder how it would play out but nobody has the balls to poke a little fun at everyone. This is on my radar.

Someone explains the logic to me. So you want to fight piracy...by making the perpetrator look cooler? Why? If you engrave in the pirate's mind that he is Darth Vader, you aren't going to make him regret what he's doing.

That sounds interesting, I'll might get it.

But we all know the inevitable irony that will occur.

The character representing Nintendo will be an Italian woman who throws out slightly altered versions of the same moves.

Whoa, talk about inspired... I'm gonna keep my eye on this one, hopefully it'll turn out as awesome as it's entire concept makes it sound.

It's kind of funny how many people are assuming this game is going to be pirated.

The whole "jailbreak" thing is way overblown. A lot of people (probably plenty of Sony haters among them) gleefully assumed that it meant that it was the beginning of yet another long running game of cat and mouse between a company and pirates. But this is actually highly unlikely to happen.

The reason for this is because the "jailbreak" code is not a real hack. It by all accounts is just something that was cloned from a stolen Sony service key. It doesn't crack or break through anything. All it does is exploit a loophole. It's not a real hack. If it was then the hackers might be able to adapt. But "jailbreak" is just a workaround or an exploit and that makes a very big difference. Now that the loophole has been closed via firmware the pirates are effectively back at square one.

The hackers and pirates couldn't pick Sony's locks so instead they stole a key and made copies of it. So Sony simply changed the locks. Now all the pirates can do is essentially scrounge around for and play with the old locks. There is not going to be any "Jailbreak" 2.0 or anything of the like. In order to overcome Sony's newest security the hackers would have to steal another service key and start all over again from scratch. Not an easy thing to do as Sony is guaranteed to be doing everything in it's power to prevent that.

Medal of Honor is just the beginning. More and more PS3 games are going to be supporting the new security and therefore the "jailbreak" code is going to become less and less relevant.

Whether or not this particular game gets pirated is entirely up to Sony, NISA, and Compile Heart. Specifically there is the question of whether or not this particular game will also support the new security.

Essentially, "jailbreak" was just a loud and unpleasant but brief bump in an otherwise smooth and comfortable road. The PS3 is indeed an appropriate exclusive platform for this game because the PS3 is the most piracy resistant console on the market. It has been and it still is.

Incidentally I am definitely going to be buying this game when it comes out.

Who says the industry is running out of ideas.

I wonder how high my irony meter will go if someone pirates it.

Good thing the Software Publishers Association says that video can be copied for the non-profit purpose of promoting the ethical and legal use of software.

This is the most awesome thing I have heard in some time. Seriously, that's just such a great idea for a game, and leave it to NIS to come up with this kind of crazy shit. If I had a PS3 I'd have it on my buy list for sure, they always make awesome and crazy games. Just makes me excited in getting ZHP in 2 or 3 days.

Oh and the delicious irony of a pirate pirating and playing this game is just off the wall.

This sounds absolutely awesome. I hopeit sells well, and goes everywhere, because Nippon Ichi is in a lot of economic trouble right now.

I believe you misread. The main character is essentially the consoles themselves. The enemy are the pirates, who are gonna get trounced to nothing and never win in the game (obviously).

And Darth Vader isn't exactly the best representation either, as he redeems himself a few times in the lore. Pirates, to the Game Industry, are Darth Sidious.
Yes, and? They don't want to be the hero. It's like those posters I see depicting pirates with the "piracy is a crime" text on them. Depict them as pedophiles or something, not as Sauron for god's sake.
