Game Crazy Liquidation Confirmed

A leaked internal memo has confirmed that Game Crazy [http://www.gamecrazy.com/] will be liquidating its stock over the next several weeks as it pulls the plug on its remaining operations.

The Movie Gallery [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/100396-Rumor-Game-Crazy-Goes-so-Bonkers-it-Dies] reportedly held a conference call revealing that it had filed for bankruptcy and begun the process of winding down operations. That rumor has now been confirmed pretty much exactly as it was originally reported: Movie Gallery and Game Crazy are closing for good.

An internal memo circulated to employees and obtained by Joystiq [http://www.joystiq.com/2010/05/05/gamecrazy-internal-document-confirms-liquidation-of-remaining-st/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+weblogsinc%2Fjoystiq+%28Joystiq%29] confirms that despite the company's best efforts to "respond to our business challenges," the board of directors has decided that the liquidation of all assets is the only way forward. Closeout sales will begin soon at all Game Crazy locations and are expected to run for "up to 60 days."

The good news for employees, such as it is, is that anyone who rides it out to the end will earn some kind of "store associate incentive plan." The memo also noted that Game Crazy "expects to continue to pay associates and provide current benefits and insurance programs during your active employment until you are released from the store or the store closing sale ends." In other words, get your glasses, fill your prescriptions and go to the dentist now.

It's a crappy situation for everyone at Game Crazy and we wish them all the best. On the upside (and you knew this was coming), their loss is our gain, in a very selfish way: Liquidation sales mean good deals, so if you've got a store in your neighborhood, you'd be well advised to keep an eye on it for the next month or so.

Well, this certainly makes me very, very sad.... I spent a couple of years working for Game Crazy, and while the corporate structure was a joke, I still prefer it over gamestop. Oh well, wonder how I put it as a reference for past employment now. Hopefully I can get some awesome deals while they kill their stock.

Damn I wish all the Game Crazies in my county were open.

It sucked, they just randomly close without advertising their liquidation sale.

I still had 20 bucks in my account.

The game crazies by me have been closing for months now. The only thing left is a rack of madden games. the rest of the store is empty.

Bummer. Well, I guess I'll have to keep an eye out for other game stores in which I can preorder Gears 3 and wait there till midnight to buy it...like I did for Gears 2.

Possible Gears 3 plot twist: Humans and Locust team-up to kill the Lambent then go back to killing eachother.

HA! Just kidding...or am I? They both have a common enemy now and from the Ashes to Ashes trailer alone, it looks like the Lambent will wipe them all out.

YAY! Good deals!

I hated Game Crazy, but I feel bad for the employees, I hope they land on their feet.

I just bought Ghostbusters, some game called Operation Darkness,a handful of awful gore movies(because the movie store Game Crazy is in here is also closing) AND a box of sour patch kids for 9 bucks.

A winner is me.

Fo' shizzle my nizzle' the name of the game is selling.

on a serious note, there is no incentive plan if you read the fine print on the form you sign it says good standing, i could have a perfect inventory and close (like we had) and they could say its not good standing, did get my $.50 raise tho got a separate check for $21.30 and another thing + i never got paid for my final day.

Well, shit. Now I have to rent from Netflix. This means that they can hike prices anytime they want because a main competitor is now out of the race. Thank you Capitalism...
