"The Darkness" had a WAY sad ending; who'd have thought a visceral shooter about a mobster possessed by pure, face-biting, chest cavity excavating evil could have such depth of story and truly touching moments??
You mean the part where the main character is told to walk into certain radiation death, so he asks his radiation immune friend to do it, and he promptly refuses for no real reason? Then the protagonist says "Fuck you all, then."(at least that's what I imagined him saying) and lets the purifier explode, killing everyone.TheYellowCellPhone said:Fallout 3 vanilla, since it was so unexpected and kind of touching.
Screw you guys, I thought vanilla Fallout 3's ending was better.
How do I do a spoiler tag? I'm still fairly new.Matthew94 said:Yeah but age really matters when it comes to media, after a while it's not the persons responsibility to hide spoilers.hazabaza1 said:It takes hardly any effort to make a spoiler tag. Plus, just because a game is old doesn't mean that everyone that wants to play it has. Not spoiling tagging things is a dick move, plain and simple, unless the thread itself says that there'll be no spoilers.Matthew94 said:Metal Gear Solid 3, Eva's monologue and Snake's resulting reaction is heart wrenching.
The game has been out for 7 years, the world can't hide behind spoilers because you didn't play a game you probably weren't going to play.hazabaza1 said:Spoiler warning dude. Thanks for ruining MGS3 for me.
Do you think I was angry at the world because I knew the twists in System Shock 2 and Final Fantasy VII before I played them? No.
DO you think people do spoiler tags when talking about Star Wars VII in case people don't know Darth is Luke's father?
Wait..... what? I don't remember that happening.lunncal said:You mean the part where the main character is told to walk into certain radiation death, so he asks his radiation immune friend to do it, and he promptly refuses for no real reason? Somehow that scene failed to affect me emotionally... I'm not quite sure why.
Same here. Though i still dont get why they had to close the door.Cephei Mordred said:Kingdom Hearts
Agreed on Red Dead Redemption, it made me tear up a bit, though I do wonder why he didn't wait a couple seconds, go around to the back of the barn, climb up, and then pick off the marshals one by one.Sean Hollyman said:Has a game ending ever made you sad?
Metal Gear Solid 3's ending made me really sad, he finds out that the government's been using him all along, and they made him kill the Boss just so they could cover up something that went wrong and get their hands on a lot of money.
Red Dead Redemption's ending made me REALLY sad for a while.
Never played time/darkness, but my treeko buddy was balling his little eyes out at the end of the pokemon original mystery dungeon game, too. I was surprised at how dramatic it was.Melon Hunter said:Yeah, I know that, but it doesn't make your partner's reaction to your disappearance any less sad.
Really? It's all here on the wiki: http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Take_it_Back!#Decision_3:_Do_nothing.MysticToast said:Wait..... what? You came into a thread about game endings >.> At that point in time I assumed that if I wanted to not know the ending of a game which was highly likely to be in this thread (No I have not played it. But I know enough to theorize that it might be in a thread like this)hazabaza1 said:It takes hardly any effort to make a spoiler tag. This. Everything about that last mission was sad, even the title 'Lone Wolf'. Halo 3's ending too, although not quite as well executed as Reach, was still sad.Dredgers said:Halo Reach's ending, say what you want about the halo series and Noble 6's bland character but seeing a whole world destroyed all of your comrades killed and then fighting till the end, I think that is pretty sad
I suppose so... though what I mainly talked about was my characters choice, therefore it won't happen for everyone. Besides which, this is a thread about "Game endings" so anyone surprised by the presence of spoilers must be brain-dead, and therefore are unlikely to be bothered.SirBryghtside said:Um... spoilers? ¬.¬lunncal said:*snip*

like this (no spaces)

I hadn't looked up anything, and I'd been focusing on a main fireteam of myself, and 4 other chars the whole game, not realizing that EVERYONE would be involved in the last fight. And at the time, ship improvements looked like super expensive things that did nothing.SirBryghtside said:Wow, that's... even worse than mineThe Big Robb said:But, really, the game that made me sad for real, was Mass Effect 2.
Went into it blind, and ended up triggering the last part before I'd upgraded everyone and got the ship parts. Everyone died besides Joker and Grunt. After spending so much time with the characters, watching them die in cutscenes while I couldn't do anything about it was......it hurt a little.
5 of my guys died, even though I did all the ship improvements and tried to do all the loyalty quests...
