Red Dead was amazing, its endings had three feels, homecoming (the first), tragedy (the second), and closure (the third). SUCH an amazing game, easily the greatest ending to a game, but definitely one of the saddest.

That being said, I was probably one of the few people that felt bad about the decisions I made during my rule as King of Albion in Fable III. I screwed some people over, and I know they're just a bunch of 0's and 1's in an above-average game, but I kinda felt like a dick. (Coming from the guy who couldn't withhold his rage for the stupid populace and turned a lot of civilians into wrapping paper in PROTOTYPE) Not to mention I lost half of the kingdom to the Crawler, kinda made me sad.

Getting 100 Power Cells in Jak and Daxter was sad too, I WANTEHD TO KNOW WAHT WHAS GONNAH AHPPEHN!

The ending to Medal of Honor hit me... I'd go into details but I'll let the video speak for itself

I was sat there begging with my TV for him to live, worst part, he hung on till the very... last... moment...

I teared up due to the imfamous 2 good ending, where you are good all the way through. I loved it. I was trying not to cry, as my friends would have made fun of me. But when i told them they were the same.

Oh and:
Dokapon Kingdom

Me and my friends actually didn't think it was possible to beat, but after we eventually did we were all sad it was over...took 99 weeks with 4 people btw.

Red Dead's ending was absolutely brilliant, although it lost its effectiveness the second time around.

Dragon Age: Origins' sacrifice ending was also incredibly bittersweet for me, and I though that it was far and away the best possible ending to the game.

Infamous 2 good ending, is so bittersweet as I understand why it needed to happen. But at the same time watching all of the main characters do the right thing makes me feel good.

Grand Theft Auto IV.

And not that it was cryingly sad, but it was more of a depressed sort of thing. Anyway, it made me sad.

Soul Blazer... surprising tear jerking SNES ending. After bringing life back into the world, you just return to heaven.

Silent hill 2's drown ending was super depressing. I thought "great I beat the game, now I'm gonna go kill myself" jeez, talk about a buzzkill

Spoilers are a given considering the thread topic.
It was sad to see Tidus fade away in FFX (and his interactions with Jecht before the final battle). FFIX seems to have a really pleasant, happy ending until you realize that Vivi is dead. For a moment in FFXIII's ending, the screen faded to white and made you think the party was permanently crystallized; had the credits rolled there, I would have lost my composure (and we still had Vanillle and Fang to make it sad). Crisis Core got me down - I knew what was coming the whole time, but it was still really sad to see after building Zack's character the whole game. When I was a kid, Kingdom Hearts got me sad because I thought Kairi was alone on the islands and Sora was stranded wherever he was sent, and I didn't know there'd be a sequel. BBS had some mixed feelings: Ventus is in a half-heart coma, Aqua is lost in the Realm of Darkness, and Terra's consciousness is trapped inside his body which is being controlled by Xehanort, but you got to kick Xehanort's ass so hard he got amnesia and you know Sora's about to go on an epic quest to save them all.

Yep, most games that get me emotionally invested enough to make me feel sad for the characters are made by Square. Deal with it. Other games: try doing better plots and characters.

Red Dead Redemption. Red... Dead... Fucking... Redemption.

GTA IV also made me kinda sad. Especially since I decided to do the deal instead of getting revenge. Things ended up a lot worse, let me tell ya.

Crisis Core was the most disgustingly sad game ever.
Yeah, but if you played the original game, you should've know that was how it was going to end going in.

But yeah, MGS3 debriefing really hit me in the soul. I dropped my controller and my eyes tears up in disbelief.

Also Crisis Core made me sad.

Saddest endings for games I've actually played would be the optional endings for Nier and the ending to Shadow of the Colossus

I had to give my life in order to save many lives and purify the water of the lake
..until i realized i had the Broken Steel DLC, which i then activated, and it changed the ending :D

The endings for MGS 4 and MGS 3.

Also, while...not necessarily an ending to the game, the scene in drakengard 2 where

Caim and Angelus die got to me pretty damned well. In a way i guess it is an ending of sorts so...yeah, let's just count it shall we?
