Game for girlfriend

My girlfriend and all of her friends that are girls really love the Nancy Drew series. I tried playing it but had to stop after the first two puzzles were LITERALLY vegetable picking and basket weaving. She like portal but wasn't very good at controlling, needed practice.

Bingo. Don't force games on her that she won't want to play. Just buy games you know she'll like, and if she actually wants to play something else, you can always get something different for her. I want to buy The Sims 3 personally and my girlfriend really wants to play it too. Thats next on my list of games to get for her...and me =P

That's so true. Really, don't get games that YOU like for your girlfriend. That's a pointless and selfish exercise. If you think she'll like Sim's, get that for her. Remember, a relationship isn't just about YOU.

That aside, I'd recommend trying Spore on her. If not, save the money, get out and do something nice together. Buy 10 movie tickets or something, 5 movies you like and 5 she likes (Or if you're feeling particularly nice, 7 movies she likes and 3 for you)

Well the Sims is a sure fire hit. Granted, you'll never speak to her again because she'll be too busy making her little virtual household, but she'll enjoy it none the less.

If she likes Sims, get her Sims. My girlfriend brought Sims 2 ages ago and is still playing it today (the expansions help and make rather cheap but well received gifts).

Is there an animal crossing for PC in some form? If not, is The Sims 2 as good as the new and expensive Sims 3? Has any1 here played Rome/Civilization and how good are they?

She doesn't really have any video game experience and I am just kind of guessing she would like the Sims type games. Any more suggestions and some explanations please?

Arx Fatalis looks like a good idea because it is 5 bucks on steam. She can try it and if she doesnt like it ill try the more sims route, or conversely a more FF route.

The Sims 3, though expensive, only requires the same amount of processing power as the Sims 2.

Bit of Arx Fatalis information: The game is not a class based RPG, but instead a skill based RPG. You kill things, complete quests and such and level up and then assign points to stats and skills.

Of note in Arx Fatalis is a unique spell system no other game has ever done before or since (to my knowledge), where in you actually draw the magical symbols with your mouse, making you have to think about the spell casting element for real.
Also of note is a great sense of humor, intriguing story and the fact that it's one of the few games I know of with dismemberment in it as well as a cooking system and an item combination system.

I think five dollars is well worth what I consider to be the best RPG I have ever played.

The Sims is a pretty fun game and it usually works wonders for girlfriends. Otherwise, some "light" RPGs like Jade Empire, Mass Effect or such might also be good since they focus a lot more on storyline than level/skill progression. She can always upgrade to the more heavy RPGs later if she warms to the genre.
Alternately try some of the newer adventure/investigation games, like the CSI or Sherlock Holmes games and what not, women generally like a good mystery so if she fits the demographic they might be a hit and they don't require too much of the PC either.

But seriously, if she's not a gamer there's a good chance you're wasting your time with PC games, get her a DS instead, that's what I did for my girlfriend. She doesn't use it that often, but when she does it's hours at a time. Almost like a real gamer

Edit: Black & White or Black & White 2 might also be interesting for her, a blend of pet-simulator and strategy god game. Also Fable, although only Fable 1 is released for the PC.

My girlfriend and I play Left 4 Dead together, though I'd recommend a co-op game that isn't quite as hardcore. If you have a PS2, go get We Love Katamari.

As regards PC games, I suggest The Sims, as many others have. You might also look into stuff like Final Fantasy VIII (not least for the fact that you pretty much have to make an effort to lose).

This list is of course based on the fact your dating a MILF. Any semi decent game that isnt twitch based. You would be best if shes a beginner (She been under a rock for 30 years ?) asking her what she wants, if shes no idea or doesnt care dont

I can recommend the NDS as a good starting point though its very mainstream & stuff like peggle & Proffessor laytons will last months.
