Just watched this CGI trailer of THQ's canceled game Stormbirds and I was wondering if games will ever look this good and if so, how long do you think it will take?

Five, maybe a few more years. If it's not the next gen consoles that look like that it'll be the ones afterwards. Of course, it'll be expensive as hell.

Maybe a company could just devote its resources to constructing very good meshes and textures and rent them to the game developers for their games. I can't imagine another way for such good graphics to be made without seriously sacrificing funding to other parts of the development process.

Of course they will. Processing power will always build until we literally reach the limits of physics
