Bought my first PC in 1986 and the first software I bought was a game. It was on a 5 1/4 inch floppy. It was an F-15 simulator. I've been in a couple of clans over the years that were air combat oriented. There is a huge hole in this genre. IL2 Sturmovic and nothing else really and that game is ten years old. Alot of people get by with modded versions of BF1942 but those are seriously lacking. Everything else (pardon me)sucks. I've talked to alot of people over the years and I believe I've got a really good idea of what people are looking for as far as dogfighting/air combat is concerned. Over the last year I've put together a considerable amount of original ideas for this type of game play. I don't have money and I don't know squat about writting code or creating games. Of course, I'm convinced that this game, if developed, would sell in the millions. Where do you start with a good idea? Does anyone have any ideas that might get me on my way? I can't be the only person out there in this situation. Is there any hope? I've tried contacting EA but they don't respond. Suggestions?

As is mentioned in Extra Credits (I forget which), game design companies don't need to hire ideas people, and can't afford to. What they do hire is designers, programmers, writers etc. They likely get hundreds of e-mails a week saying 'Make this sequel' or 'what do you think about this', which they understandibly ignore. Possibly making a basic mock up of the finished product, whether the code or script, depending on what you think is the major selling point, and sending them out to companies. For example, send a level to THQ, scene one to EA and the final scene to Ubisoft.
Also a CV/resume-esque personal statement saying why you know what you are talking about. Do some research, and say why this game would sell well, and why they should consider the game. Also get a name in the business. Just sending the e-mail to info@ or a variety thereof means it will likely sit in a big box, to be deleted when the secretary sees it is an idea sent in by a customer. If you are lucky, you would get a paper thin explanation of why you were rejected, maybe even stating 'Company Policy'. So get a name in the company. It is just as likely to be deleted, but someone might read it out curiosity, and then you could have a chance.

Good Luck!
