Most people here on the Escapist that choose video games as their primary form of entertainment have probably had moments in games where you felt a strong emotion: despair, happiness, relief, anxiety, rage, retribution, and anything in between.

But not every game has moments like that that stick with you long after you've finished playing the game. I'm talking about the woeful FFVII fan who still mourns Aerith, the Half-Life enthusiast who still wishes they could have done something for Eli.

These are the moments I want to talk about. When you hear a certain music play or name be mentioned, you can't help but relive that moment.

Impassioned gamers, what gaming moments still tug at your heartstrings?

EDIT: Title now includes a spoiler tag.

Pretty much every plot important moment of Persona 4. It's just that awesome.

The last case of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations: The Quest for More Colons is still a damn masterpiece.

On the lesser side of things, whenever I see an Irelia die in LoL I always feel slightly sad... Luckily she seems a bit underused nowadays, maybe because whenever I pick her, even when the other team has already picked a top my team insists that i've counterpicked myself.

What, is the entire roster of tanky dps brusiers full of Irelia haters? Whatever then, i'll switch to Fiora and completely dominate without really trying... It's kinda what Fiora does in a 1v1 lane ya know. Grand Duelist and all that.

Though whenever the other team picks Veigar mid I take it as an excuse to pick mid Irelia. Get countered son! I have zero AP and your stun wall means nothing to me! What you gonna do?!

Add "Spoiler Warning" to the topic.

I really felt my heart move during the Hero 30 Campaign in Half Minute Hero. And in the same mission, depending on your action, that heart will feel relief or be broken.

I may have brought this up in one of the three thousand or so previous threads on this topic, but there's this one moment in Half Life 2: Episode 2.

No no, not that moment, another one.

It's just after Alyx gets Vordi-suscitated and she's hobbling onto the elevator with one of the vortigaunts. She turns around and says, "Come on Gordon, next to me" in a gentle tone of voice that suggests that she feels safer with Mr Freeman around.

To say that line tugged my heartstrings would be inaccurate. Rather, it carefully sorted through my heartstrings, located the one labelled 'big brother', and gave that sucker an almighty heave.

"Had to be me. Someone else might have gotten it wrong."

Also, in the Suicide Mission in ME2,
I lost Grunt, who fell into the room, turned to me and said "Good fight, Shepard..." and then died.

Manly tears man.

Also seeing Imoen taken away in Baldur's Gate 2 was pretty harrowing.

The opening from Frontlines still makes me shiver, especially after reading the book he gets the "Long Emergency" inspiration from.

Hearing the song reminiscence from Suikoden II. The context and situation really cinches it for me though.

The extended cut scene in Mass Effect 3, the one with Tali...
If you've seen it, you know exactly what I'm talking about.

The part with Mordin in ME3 got me too...
