Shit. So where's the best place to go to get the pre-order dlc (standard edition) now then? That N7 stuff was the only reason I pre-ordered through GAME...
The best bet mate is any of these online retailers listed in the link bellow:

http://www.ea.com/uk/1/mass-effect-3-update-1

Nothing we can do regarding GAME, if anyone has reward card points to use alongside that gift voucher, use them now. I doubt you will have long to do so...
Thanks a lot! The salient info I got from that was:

'We will confirm the details of the Standard Edition N7 Warfare Gear pre-order tomorrow (Thursday 1st), apologies for the delay.'

So I'll put off my pre-order til tomorrow when we find out which retailer has it :)
Not wise man, not wise. If you're going for the collectors edition you've got to act fast, that shits selling like hot cakes.

I think the biggest kick in the teeth is the fact they're only giving refunds in store credit, so you can't go buy it from somewhere else with the refunded money.

I feel so sorry for anybody effected by this I truly am =/

I can't understand how they managed to mess this up, if you're the only store that specialises in games in the UK (apparently) surely you should be stocking titles from one of the biggest publishers in the industry...

I think they confirmed that it was refunds in the format you payed (cash/card) in addition to the £5 storecredit goodwill gesture

Yeah I got the email from them when I was at work, as I had pre-ordered it. Booo! I had been saving up my reward points specifically for this game, because I rarely buy games on the day they come out, but I really REALLY need this on the day it's released!

Oh well, I guess I will save a bit of money now as I can't get the collectors edition.

I heard about this story this morning. I rang my local game store to check to see how this affected me because I had pre-ordered my Mass Effect 3 copy in November, the phone was answered by a customer assistant who I talk to regularly when purchasing from GAME. I told him about my queries, a long pause ensued when he finally spoke up, he was choking up he asked me where I heard this from. I told him my source, he passed the phone to his manager while he looked it up for himself.

The manger told me, that staff hadn't been informed yet but this was indeed the case and that I would get my deposit back plus a £5-10 reward. He continued to say, that they were having trouble getting hold of any EA games despite those that had pre-ordered the ME3 Collectors edition and wouldn't be until the issue was resolved.

He then handed me back to the customer assistant who apologized profusely, basically in tear's because he knew that his job was no longer safe and it was a place he enjoyed working. We continued to talk for about 10mins about how excited we were for the game to come out and wishing each other luck to find a copy and numerous other things.

I've never felt so bad in all my life.

I was looking forward to my ME3 CE for months but now I'll never get a copy. I tried to get a copy from Play.com but their suffering some issue's and I couldn't order the thing without it crashing, instead I got a normal edition and will buy all the extra pieces separately. It feels like I've been kicked in the gut, I lost something special that I grafted for, I basically told a guy he was unemployed and found out that the only reasonable store in my hometown to purchase games from is closing. DAMN IT!
This, well not exactly but what I mean is it does sadden me somewhat that a lot of people are all 'Yay, GAME what a shit company, go die in a fire GAME...I'm doing a happy dance now i know you are one step closer to closing, once again Yay!'

Dudes's...these are peoples jobs we are talking about here. Anyone who has ever been made redundant knows just how shitty it really is, especially in the current economic climate. It's damned hard to find a job at the moment. Have a bit of empathy guys.

GAME dont stock much of anything these days to be honest they have dug themselves a hole by only stocking `popular` games when they should be stocking a selection and now they cant even get the big games in it seems (probably because people could buy those `popular` games cheaper elsewhere for a start) cant say I will be sad to see them go I went in one today and they didnt stock Blazblue continuum shift extend,The last story,Xenoblade Chronicles,or Catherine to name a few (I stopped looking after this).

Gamestation was almost the same except they had Catherine on the 360 (not ps3) and oddly had dondonpachi resurrection for sale on 360 which I thought was weird (but nice) oh and ofc if you want to get anything for PC or PSP youre out of luck most likely.

It will be interesting to see if any other store comes along to fill the space game leaves in retail when they go or if people will just buy from online retailers almost exclusively.
I must admit my local GAME stocked a lot of games like this but considering there were 2 other game stores within 100 yards and each game, especialy pre-owned, was at least £5 dearer at GAME fewer people started going there which didn't help.

GAME released a memo saying that they have spoken to numerous publisher's about their problems they are facing and were asking if they could come to a resolution. Most decided to help but EA wasn't one of them (surprise surprise), and also wanted GAME to sell the base copy of Mass 3 for more money (between £45-£50). GAME decided against this as they would make money in the short term but ws bad business for the long term. I beleive it also has something to do with the fact that it's coming to the end of the financial year & EA are being greedy and want more money to show off their profits for their shareholders!
Whilst I feel sorry for GAME (sort of), I feel bad for the people who might lose their jobs. I enjoy talking to the members of staff at amy local store about upcoming releases and whatnot. However GAME has shot themselves in the foot becoming lazy and bloated as they have a monopoly on the street retail of gaming central stores. I remember when Gamestation came about & it was a brilliant gaming store that also sold old school games and great friendly staff. then GAME bought it and now it's a shadow of it's former self, as Gamestation is pretty much just an expensive second hand shop!

You know, I wonder if this will hit EA's sales figures (And Ubisoft since there stuff isn't being stocked either apparently) in the UK?

Because, right now there's nowhere in my city which will stock the game - and I can't buy it through steam, and I'm not going to buy it though Origin*.

So... ..will gamer's gate have it? Or maybe Impulse? (or whatever its branded this month)

* I'm aware that I'll probably have to install origin, but that isn't the same as giving EA access to my bank details. I'd not trust EA with my save games, let alone access to my money.

Well arse. I bought Soul Calibur 5 from Gamestation because they were doing 35 quid trade-in within two weeks. I wanted to use that trade value for ME3. Now what? That was pretty much the only thing on my wants list for the forseeable future.

Joy.
Go to CEX, see how much cash they'll give you then tell Gamestation (with evidence) and they'll beat it by £1. Job's a good 'un.

Some of their practices are questionable but it would be a shame to see a video-game specific retailer go down when it isnt being forced out by digital distribution. I also feel sorry for all the people who no longer have secure jobs. Like them or not it would be bad for the industry to see such a huge player go under. I hope this is just for EA games.

I would were it not already done, besides at the time it seemed like a better idea to just get credit as it wasn't really a question as to whether or not I got ME3.

I'm in a similar position to you, I got the email when I got home form work an hour ago so I've missed any chance of getting the redistributed PC Collector's Editions.

Guess I'm just going to have to bite the bullet and get the DDE from Origin.

I found this out earlier this evening, and I work for the company. First thing I thought was FFFFFFFUUUUUUU- quickly followed by 'well, guess I'd better start looking for a new job.'

Not stocking ANY EA games at all is fucking stupid. I don't know the full story, because I've had a few days off, but come on, if they're not going to stock the games...

Really. Better start looking for a new job.

Well, tomorrow I will get my cash back, use my gift card and spend my last lot there, giving as little as possible for Gamestation, where I got it from. And now, the look ahead for the next 5 years:

Nothing for it really, I'm not waiting around for this train wreck to finish, I'll spend the credit in store then try to recoup what I can from reselling the games, put that towards ME3 later.

Heck no! I'm staying miles away from that joke. I'm thinking pick up a few games from the past year or so second-hand, get some enjoyment out of them and then sell them on.
