The problem I have with MMO's where you can build a base is that such outposts carry no weight in a game. In reality, castles and keeps are used to control resource nodes, protect merchants and farmers, or hold military forces from where to stage a siege. In games they're just objectives in and of themselves without real economic meaning, making them often pointless to defend or attack. Moreover, the fact that you can build a castle by just slapping down a few walls and a tower in less than fifteen minutes and destroy it just as quickly makes it lose its importance.

These might not be mechanical problems in and of themselves, but they're gameplay features that I see returning again and again but that don't really seem possible to execute successfully.
I don't think they'll make it quite that easy to destroy, though it might build them just as fast. I don't know about in the campaigns, but I have a feeling that in the Eternal Kingdoms, you just might be able to "raid" enemy fortress and loot them of valuables stored there.

Course, this is mere speculation, I don't actually know anything :D

While I won't get my hopes too high, I really hope they pull this off. I've been waiting forever for a MMO that is actually about the people and let them matter.
I am so sick and tired of devs making MMOs with stories you are supposed to care about, when in truth the players themselves make the best stories if you allow them.
The whole idea with a MMO is the people in it, if they don't matter it's kinda stupid really. It's like a singleplayer game just with a bunch of others running around doing the same thing you are doing.
I want a game where people controls the game like in EVE, just.. not EVE. I want the political stuff and all that, just not in space, and there is no other game that does that.

Key for this to work is balance though, it has to be fair and it has to work.

I really like the idea behind this game, and if they nail this I'll be all over it in a heartbeat.

There is soooooo much potential here, but in the end it all comes down to the execution.
I've never backed anything or pre-ordered something but I have to say I am now a little tempted.

So, this is pretty much the Wurm-Online with higher budget and flashy graphics i was waiting for. I guess i might sponsor them - looks like they have a working alpha, integrated subsystems, already a lot of art-assets. Unlikely to get totally destroyed before release. Might be worth it.
Isn't Life is Feudal pretty much a spruced-up Wurm Online?
Anyway, Crowfall looks promising indeed. The combat reminds me of Wildstar so far; I like that. This might actually become my very first Kickstarter donation :)

The Assassin Archtype looks so awesome. You know, the race where all male children are killed at birth, and captured "breeder" males are disposed of afterwards. Oh, lets not forget about all males being tyrants and liars. It sounds like "San Fran 2050 Online", awesome.

This post contains absolutely no sarcasm.

I'm actually intrigued enough to consider throwing money at this when I get payed. This looks fun. Better to learn if I'm wrong after only paying $34 in instead of $50. It would just be nice at this point to have an mmo to look forward to after the cancellation of World of Darkness online.
