So yeah, the TV series started last night. I've just started watching it now, but already it looks awesome. The wall is breathtaking in scale, the others look terrifying, and even the title sequence impresses.

I'll probably edit this a lot as I go through the episode, but thoughts so far? Living up to expectations? Sean Bean as dreamy as ever?

EDIT: OK, amazing. The dothraki feel right, the characters are done well... Hopefully the next episode has some more of Sandor Clegane in it.
But it gets the feel of the books just right - takes enough liberties to get away with the episode length, but not so many it seems separate from the source material. Not sure how well the Viserys/Daenarys storyline will work out on screen, but everything else is exactly as I'd hoped

Destrike that last part good sir! Sean Bean is still dreamy! ... Even if he is old enough to be my dad.

But, yeah, I thought it was pretty cool. I'm looking forward to watching more of it. I never read the books, so I'm curious to see how it compares to them.

HBO can generally be counted on for some quality series, and they have previous expirience with elaborate historically styled set pieces; Rome was excellent. So I'll be looking forward to this one whenever it hits Europe.

Its only Sky Atlantic. NOW!

And sean bean WAS dreamy, he's haggared as hell now, least he was in the last Sharpe I saw.
Ok, I should correct that to whenever it hits Denmark then (or gets a DVD release to import). We're always a little slow on the uptake here.

You will be getting it on the fourth of May on Canal+ Denmark.

OT: I?ve got to say, that first episode was awesome. For me there was only a few things that weren?t good for me?

1. The music. I felt that the music was just kind of background noise, like I didn?t really notice it unless I was listening for it. Sure, you don?t want it to dominate the scene, but at the same time you want to be able to remember it.

2. I felt the feast should have been longer. It would have worked just as well at establishing the Starks as the new scene, and at establishing some of the less important (for now) characters.

My favorite things about it were?

1. The costuming, I felt that it gave each group their own feel and style that set them apart from the rest, the gaudy armor of the Lannisters seems like it?s supposed to look out of place next to the simple northerner armor.

2. Mark Addy was the real stand out for me, although all the cast did a great job, I felt Addy stole every scene he was in.

3. The Hound?s helmet, it?s so cool *manly squeeeee*

4. The prologue, that alone could totally work just as a short, but it kind of gives you a feel that there isn't going to be just one main plot.

5. Dany's wedding/wedding night, Some people have criticized the wedding scene for being cheap looking, as if it was just kind of thrown together, These are a nomadic people, they don't have a lot of wealth, not to mention their weddings wouldn't be a fancy affair. Dany's wedding night has been criticized for being more like rape than it was in the books, but I think that it was a good change, it showed that she is a young girl who is being thrown into a terrible situation by her batshit crazy brother, I highly doubt anyone would have enjoyed it.
