"Rewind"
Okay, so imagine Mirrors Edge but more of a First Person Shooter.
One of the key points I though of when I came up with this game is the level of immersion. Your character, Bartholomew Arlington, accountant, wears glasses. So maybe, when you run through steam, your vision fogs up. When you get hit or knocked back, your glasses shift out of place or fly off. Maybe when you're falling, they could float off but are then pulled back. While you're running, your arms are pumping and, the more you run, your breathing becomes more constant.
So for shooting, I want to keep it solid and put a bloody health meter in there. So, your phone keeps it all in track.
Your Battery shows your life and an app shows the weapon's current condition.
So, mid battle or whatever, you can press a button and check your stats.
Weapons include a pistol, machine gun, shotgun, lead pipe, shock-launcher (Sort of a long-range stun-gun), an RPG and other weapons I haven't though of yet.
Story wise, you play Bartholomew Arlington, who lives in the year 20XX. I don't know. So anyway, a few years prior, humans came in contact with an alien race that we joined up with. We were low on resources, so we needed help, and they helped us on our feet. So now they are a sort of benevolent combine and everybody has these special cybernetic implants that improve life, stimulate thought, and run computers. The game begins on a black screen, and then Bartholomew's eyes open on the day that 75% of Earth has these implants. They are now free to install. SO, he does not have an implant. Never will. Too stubborn. While he's at work, he gets a mysterious e-mail telling him to meet at the docks. The "Combine" catch on and chase him through the city. Act one is a chase where the, let's call them Sargats, hell, I don't know, use all resources to stop him. Act 2, he meets with the resistance, who seems equally mysterious. Act 3, he is betrayed by the resistance. I haven't worked it out past that.
Bartholomew talks, by the way. You can hear him. He's not silent.
He's smart, cynical, sarcastic, and flawed.
Now, for the mechanic that somewhat separates the game from others.
WHen you die, you can rewind the game all the way to the beginning of the chapter in order to avoid death, kill the guy, dodge the rocket, or restart the crumbling bridge.
So what do you think?
