Game series you want to see revived, but won't ever happen (probably)

It's also worth noting that Nintendo has the Directs now. That's what revived Fire Emblem. Hundreds of thousands of loyal fans purchase their games provided that they know what the game actually is.

Well first one had awful voice acting and was stuck on GC, second was stuck on GC and had a way worse combat system (and imo less interesting story/character).

I'll second zone of the enders, we came so close too. It's pretty unique in its combat system. (hopefully I won't have to add armored core to this list, where am I gonna get my mech action otherwise?)

Square has a ton of great IP from the playstation era with so much potential that are just lying death. I'd do unspeakable things to get threads of fate 2, I need more mint in my life! Bahamut lagoon is such a great game that never even saw release state wide. The mana franchise went into a slow agonizing death.

The first game had a LOOOOOOOOT of issues, bad english voice acting, superfluous mechanics and lack of polish. They fixed a lot of this with the second game but I think the first impression probably hurt the series. Also it was on the Gamecube and most people had a PS2 at that time.

Suikoden series please. Still many unanswered questions.

Of course, Konami decided it didn't want to continue living, so there's no way I'll ever see Suikoden VI...

Vampire: The Masquerade-Bloodlines was one of the most unique and well written RPGs I've ever played.

There were some rumblings about making an Elder Scrolls-type open world version of this. But I think that fell by the wayside when White Wolf Publishing went belly up.

But I heard Paradox Interactive, their new parent company is interested in bringing some of their IP into the video game market.

So we'll see. (But I'm not holding my breath).

A year or so ago, I would have said Star Fox 'proper.' But since that's happened...

Metroid (2D Metroidvania)
Metroid Prime
Eternal Darkness (Confirmed dead forever, though)
Wave Race

The last full single player game they made was Portal 2 in 2011. Just because it has a multiplayer component does not mean it didn't have a full single player experience, and just because you might have not liked it doesn't mean it didn't happen.

I'd personally love to see a new Primal Rage. Especially with today's tech, could have some epic gore stuff happening, and excellent Pee physics (If you know what I mean lol)

.hack - Loved it. Loved all of it. I would love more games in this series, or even just for them to release the rest of the existing games over here.

Jet Set Radio - This is about the closest thing to a skateboarding game I've liked. The atmosphere was very nice.

Sonic Adventure - This was the last time I remember really liking a Sonic platformer.

Sonic Battle - I'm not sure WHY I like this one, I just really do.

Warriors Orochi - A sequel, a prequel, or a Dissidia-style cycle type thing. Whatever it takes.

Medabots (The turn based ones, not the action games - I remember really enjoying that game, although the RNG was a bit hard to take sometimes.

Megaman Legends - Even a re-mastering would be fine at this point.

Megaman Battle Network or Megaman Star Force - I really like these ones. Great settings, great gameplay.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles (the multiplayer focused original) - I think with the Wii U game pad and the easy of 3DS multiplayer there has never been a better time to make a sequel to the original game with the original gameplay.

Darkstalkers simply because I love fighters (even if I dont play them much or indeed any games much anymore unfortunately) and its cast is one of my favourites in the genre as far as original creations go i.e not mash ups.

Cant see it happening though Capcom for some reason cant budget accordingly to make niche fighters unlike say Arc or Examu or Sega and some indie studios such as Lab Zero for some reason. Then again with their terrible business decisions they have even messed up what should have been genre heavy hitters like Street Fighter 5.

Other one is Soul Calibur which is quite possibly my favourite fighting series of all time but they have treated it like dirt for quite a few iterations and Lost Swords was just an abomination. I have hope it will return but Namco dont seem to be much better than Capcom these days in regards to their fighters at least.

Last one is Virtua Fighter (yes another fighter) I never liked the first one but the rest were great. I get the trouble they have in that like most series and unlike SF it doesnt really reinvent itself much each iteration and just changes small things so I guess they may be having trouble on deciding what to do but its been a good few years since even 5 Final Showdown so I hope we get another entry at some point. Sega have released some very niche fighters recently (at least niche here) so hopefully this series is not left out much longer.

Timesplitters. I would love another Timesplitters. Hell I'd settle for an HD version for the PS4/Xbone/PC

I just want Timesplitters back :(

Oh also Onimusha. That'd be sweet.

Rayman - currently in limbo (no pun intended) after the Ubisoft-induced debacle around Legends, I have loved every single main-line Rayman game, all the way back to the original. Radically changing style every other game is discombobulating but I don't care, it's still been a super-fun franchise and I'm still holding out hope

Megaman - I won't be picky about the exact style (the series has been through a few) but I'd like my fast-paced sidescrolling shooters back, please. Too bad Capcom has the business sense of a pond skater when it comes to IP. Speaking of useless developers...

Castlevania - Konami may release another game with its name but the franchise is dead. At least Castlevania looks like its creator can carry on its spirit, unlike the fuss around Mighty No. 9

Advance Wars - the last one was awesome, as well. I doubt we'll have another, though, as long as Fire Emblem's new identity as Anime Waifu Simulator is still printing money. I miss old Fire Emblem...

Jak and Daxter - oww, my childhood. I replayed the main 3 recently and good lord do they hold up to my memories. I could definitely stand some more of this

Honourable mention: Metroid - only an honourable mention because Nintendo *will* make another (proper) one, it's only a matter of time

If we extend to all games that should have sequels...

The Last Story - a.k.a. the other Rainfall game. It and Pandora's Tower are still criminally underappreciated games, IMO, but The Last Story was rife with potential for a sequel to expand the world and mechanics (and fix the laggy magic circles)

Cave Story - again, so much unexplored potential. New worlds, new characters, new weapons, new heartwrenching tragedy but alas, 'twas not to be...

#FucKonami I've only played V, started III and watched a friend play II, but it's a fucking crime what happened to this series.

Then again maybe we should let it lie. If Konami were to bring it back it'd be as a mobile game with microstransactions *Looks at new Contra game*

Virtua Quest, the spin-off game to Virtua Fighter... It's still the only game that I've played that had the making of a custom beat-em-up franchise...

Other than that, Odama... because I want more RTS-style pinball games with voice commands...

Command & Conquer.

I know it most likely will never happen and even if it does it will most likely be a Dungeon Keeper Mobile-style freemium bullshit. But I want a new Command & Conquer game now.

I was going to say something about that, but then I remembered how infamous B-Cell is...

OT: Well, considering that Fear Effect of all things is apparently attempting to get a revival, I'm not really sure what to think anymore. Is anything really impossible now?

Anyway. Okami. I'd even just be satisfied getting Okami HD on the Vita, but considering how long ago the PS3 version came out I'm not holding my breath too hard.

Since Clover is dead and I can't imagine they'd get Platinum back to work on another Okami title, I think it's relatively safe to say that the franchise is dead.

Oh, and since Square Enix is apparently so interested in bringing back all of their old franchises and recently killed the multiplayer thing set in Nosgoth, how about you guys let Crystal Dynamics step away from Tomb Raider for a bit to make another Legacy of Kain game?

And Sega, you had a good thing going with Sonic Generations, why the blazes did you decide to abandon it?

While 2,3 and 5 are all excellent, the last one was actually the abomination that is Tierkries for the DS. I definitely don't trust modern konami with it either. Still though, I hope against hope. Konami management is shit but maybe some gave devs still have a soul.

Though yeah, if breath of fire can be a phone game, konami would surely make suikoden into one too and abuse microtransactions to sell us the stars of destiny one by one.
