hmmmmm cant think of any with game pad

theres sooo many good old games with a mouse though

so I suggest you use a mouse.
i could do that but then i wouldn't be able to game from the comfort of my bed.
lol. For me, a distinguishing feature of PC gaming that separates it from the console is that you have to be just slightly less lazy to play on a PC. One of the many reasons I feel PCs are superior platforms to consoles.
Hahaha
that's why i actually have a 2nd very decent pc on wich i play stuff like Dragon age and assassins creed. but since that pc isn't in my room and I haven't got enough money to buy a xbox or ps3 ill have to find another way to be lazy.

If you like Adventure Games, Telltale Games Sam and Max and Monkey Island seasons all work pretty well on old computers.

I'd also recommend Age of Empires II. One of the best RTS' of all time, in my opinion.

Urgh I think i should have picked a better title. The point is that it should be at least in some way compatible with a gamepad.
btw yes i really like AoE II i've been playing it for like 5 years now :D

As a kid on our Windows 95 and 98, we had a pretty big selection. Gems included Rollercoaster Tycoon, Thief 1 and 2, Command & Conquer (the original), Age of Empires 1-2, X-Wing vs Tie Fighter, and Half-Life. If you can find them, I'd also urge you get System Shock 2, The Neverhood, Grim Fandango or just any of the old Lucasarts puzzlers. We had some fair ones, things like Deadly Tide, Rebel Assault 2 and Deathtrap Dungeon, but I could've lived without them. But those are some decent suggestions, if I say so myself.

Were it not for the fact that you wanted it to work on a game pad I would have pointed you towards GOG. [www.gog.com] But instead I'm going to point you towards something like Xpadder [http://www.xpadder.com/], then GOG.

Could do with knowing how old pc is and what graphic's it is nvidea ......... for example but we.

I think that set up would play most things from 2-3 years back no problem maybe not on full graphics but that is always the case.

lots of games to recommend, half life 1 2 ep1 and 2, GTA up to but not including 4, lots of racing games just look up on steam, some indie games are good, like super meat boy, cheap and should play well. Just make sure the requirements are all below what you got don't look at minimum always look at recommended, then you know it will work well.

As for controller most games allow remapping of controls. Easy just go into options and then control. Just takes a short while to set up but once done it is done should work fine. Possable problem may be with tutorials and things. Sometimes it does not update so even if you programed it so that green is jump it will still say press space...sometimes this happenes sometimes it does not depends on the game.

It isn't old, but look up Alien Swarm on Steam, good co-op even if you have a shit internet connection like me, and it looks like it should have game pad support.
Moreover, it's free and it's Valve, and those are two things you can never go wrong with.

I think a few games from the very late 90s to early 00s allowed for gamepads, due to them being ports from the PS2, but most modern games that allow for gamepads are ports from the xbox360, which your PC can't handle. Can't you live without gamepads? One of the main advantages of the PC is that it is not restricted to the 14-something buttons of gamepads, and can therefore be much more complex. If you just want to play something in your bed, get a DS, PSP, or netbook. If you want to play real games, give Warcraft3+TFT, Half-Life 2+episodes, Morrowind, Deus Ex, Vampire The Masquerade-Bloodlines (with community patch), Silent Hill series up to 4, Master of Orion, or the Pre C&C3 command and conquer series a shot. All of those should run on your PC, at least on medium settings.

I suggest taking a look at Xpadder too. It would allow you to play any pc game with a gamepad controller. It basically assigns your controller buttons to a key on the keyboard, and so in the game you just put that key in as the key for the control.

I'd also follow up on recommending Telltale games, I used xpadder with them so I could play them on a controller. Sam & Max, Tales of Monkey Island, and Wallace and Gromit I enjoyed trumendously. Theres also remakes of the first two Monkey Island games on steam. The second one actually allows you to use a controller without the need of xpadder.

You asked if there was any RPG/JRPG, other than emulators, you could probably run the pc versions of FF7 or FF8. Also that Recettear on steam would probably run on your pc too, I've not played that one myself though.

I wouldn't call that an old PC. It's still a pretty robust system.

I would recommend a quirky game called Sacrifice, released in 2000. You can buy it on steam currently and it's worth the money.
