Only one game or series per post, please. I would recommend the PS1 Crash trilogy just for the heck of it.

King of Dragon's Pass

Why this is an obscure classic is beyond me, due to game being presented via drawn art, the visuals have aged nicely and should be perfectly stomachable to even the most blase of gamers born after the 2000s.

Persona 5 would be nice.

Stupid grumblicious delays...
As someone in the US, you have no idea when it comes to delays to ATLUS games.

Stupid Europe haters...

No no, I've heard. I'm aware. Doesn't make delays here any better. I don't derive pleasure from somebody else's delay.

Hotline Miami. It's short but it's sweet and I've never seen a game do a better job at giving me red mist and an adrenaline rush.

I'm gonna say Chrono Trigger. It's the perfect combination of 'Old School JRPGing' and easy, multi-generational accessibility (From a gameplay perspective. I think the last release was for the Original DS, and I'm not sure how common the cartridge is).

Mount and Blade Warband

This way, before you die you'll have at least lived out your dream of betraying the Butterlord, leading an immense cavalry charge into his flank, and finally taking his land for yourself... or maybe that's just my dream. Point is, before you die, you can live out a medieval life as a humble peasant who eventually gets married, probably develops a very real racism towards what he considers the most annoying faction, and finally conquers the world.

Snake? Snake?! SNAAAKE!!!

So yes, the obvious answer is Snake on an old Nokia phone. We're gathering recommendations for a complete newbie, right? Because if not then the obvious answer is Dwarf Fortress.

Yes, two games, but only one of them really counts, depending on perspective.

Xenoblade Chronicles for the Wii and "New" 3DS.

The unique world and story, fun combat, and the length of the game creates a must play video game. Go check it out sometime.

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater.

Jump back to the height of Cold War in the 1960s as a young Big Boss (then known as Naked Snake) tasked with eliminating his mentor and mother figure, The Boss. Enjoy a James Bond inspired story and tactical espionage action, while employing survival techniques deep within the soviet jungle.

I play it at least once a year, it's that good.

I've heard good things about Tokyo Mirage Session #FE and I'll probably get that to curb my Person craving until 5 rolls out.

Of course, if you don't own a WiiU, I can sympathize with your pain...

I'm not sure it's worth it, at least to me. I didn't buy Vita either, though it certainly had SOME games I wanted. If they'd only made it a REAL replacement for PSP by not forcing everyone to essentially give up their games (except the limited number that were made compatible), I might've bought.

Castlevania. Symphony of the Night or Order of Ecclesia.

If you're more classically inclined, Castlevania 3 on the NES or something.

Depending on what I'm dying of it may have to be something fairly short... :p

OT: It'd be so easy to just post Morrowind and leave it there, but I think I'll go for a change of tune today.

Hmm...

Trials Evolution is a good one. A superb example of the 'easy to learn, hard to master' category of games, plus the amount of free user created content means there is a vast library of courses after you've finally got gold on all the campaign missions. And if you fancy having a few friends over for a beer, pizza and game night it's got simultaneous 4-player mode too.

Afterlife.

That way, you'll be prepared for all the games you should play after you die.
I wouldn't want to spend five minutes in any of the Afterlives I created. For some reason I always designed my Hells meticulously, and kind of let my Heavens go to the dogs.

Is this a thread about games I'd like to see released before I die or games that I would recommend people to play before they die?

If this is about a game I want to see released before I die, I still want Rock Band Japan. Any guitar-hero or rock band game with a heavy focus on J-Rock would be pretty cool.

If this is a game I would recommend people play before THEY die, Tokyo Mirage Sessions. If you absolutely hate anime and J-pop you may want to skip cutscenes but as a game it's really solid. If you can't handle that kind of stuff at all, TMS is essentially just Persona without social links so go for a Persona...Persona 3 is what I'd recommend since I haven't played 4 yet.

Another game I would highly recommend is Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam as it's the best RPG featuring Paper Mario that we're probably going to get until Nintendo decide to remake Thousand Year Door (a game which has aged very nicely actually). The Bro. and Triple attacks in Paper Jam are pretty fun and imaginative too. The big thing though (heh) are Papercraft battles which are a lot more fun than the Giant Dream fights in the previous game.
