So, I was playing as Alone in the Dark 2008 (I am a masochist,) and realized that the fire hazards in the game are actually very realistic, and that the fire extinguisher is really cool. I was thinking, are there any games where you play as a firefighter? Think about it: Go in, rescue civilians, put out fires in EXTREME FIRE ACTION.
The only games I can think of like this are shovelware titles and this arcade thing I saw at a Dave and BUsters. Maybe it could be like SWAT 4, AKA "Holy shit being a cop is kind of hard."

If you can handle edge-of-your-seat action, an emotionally gripping story line of company camaraderie, and rescues so real that you'll feel the flames in your nostrils, then you /might/ just be ready for...

As hilarious as that was to watch, it makes my desire for a good firefighting game stronger. They deserve more than this, damnit!

The Firemen for the SNES! Amazing game even now. It's aged well because of the top down view and is still pretty playable.

Real Heroes Firefighter 3D is a first person game where you play as a fire fighter. It was originally on the wii but then became a downloadable title on the 3ds. It is pretty cheap but in exchange is very rough (not the strongest in the visuals and the movement and aiming is not the best). The following link has some gameplay for it though if you don't have a 3ds or wii it is probably useless to you.

Despite it's flaws it is pretty faithful to being a game about fighting fires.

Edit: Apparently it is on pc and it is prettied up with a cartoon aesthetic, stylized characters with black edges and HD. I say apparently since I can't find where to buy it just gameplay on youtube.

Firefighter FD 18 for the PS2

It´s an third-person shooter. Where you shoot water.

It´s really fun, looks good, has boss fights, a gripping story. All around, a great game.

There's the Emergency games, which revolve around containing and resolving various accidents and catastrophes.

You start at the headquarters where you'll assemble your team, decide who to send and what kind of gear they'll bring.
It's not exclusively a firefighter game, however, as you'll also have to manage police and medical units.

I can think of two games about firefighting:

One, Brave Firefighters, is an arcade light-gun game, where instead of shooting zombies, you use a firehose to, well, put out fires. I remember playing that one at Chuck E. Cheese when I was like 11. That game was freaking awesome.

The second, Firefighter F.D. 18, was on the PS2 and was pretty mediocre, if I remember right. It even had boss fights, I think, where you had to fight pyromaniacs and saboteurs at the end of each level with your firefighting gear. But seriously, listen to some of those lines:

"Never, ever say casualty!"

I know two more:

Firepoint, a free indie puzzle platformer for pc with some basic physics and offbeat humor.

Burning Rangers, a sci-fi take on firefighting for the Saturn. Mind you, being an early 3d title, the controls will probably feel a little archaic.

Neither will really wow anyone, but but are fun, solid games and both revolve around saving people and putting out fires.

Grand Theft Auto presents a realistic simulation of the life of a volunteer firefighting vigilante.

I also remember Burning Rangers on the Saturn. Less fondly remembered would be The Ignition Factor on the SNES, though what I found funny about that one was that the firefighter would level up, gaining better accuracy to put out fires faster and endure the heat longer. It just felt like an overhead RPG where every enemy was a fire and you used extinguishers instead of swords and magic.

I've had an idea for a game for a while now, I was gonna make it for a college project last year, but i went for something simpler due to time restraints. But my idea was this, you played as a vigilante fireman who rode a motorbike to the scenes of fires.

The game would be a series of buildings with random layouts on fire. You'd have to go in, save people or just put out the fire, whatever was possible. Then you'd ride of into the sunset on your motorbike before the official fireman arrived.

Maybe someday I'll make it. Needs more thought though and I've more better laid out plans for games to make first.
