Oblivion. It was a good game I'll admit however it was to long, to big and overall not enough time was spent on it. Also about halfway through I started wondering if my character just dropped from the sky because nothing ever really fleshes out who you are. I enjoyed it but I could of seen myself enjoying it a lot more if there had been more attention to detail.
if they spent more time on it? they spent four years on it

Brink for most potential story.
can't agree more. Gaa, had they just paid more attention to the story it could've been so good.
Ever seen the old Container city trailers from a few years back at the end there's a cut scene it had depth and interesting characters i wish that had made it into the final produced.
Container City demo? Yeah I remember that. I guess they got rid of the Half-Life style in-game cut scenes because of........uhh....

I don't know. People on the forums have been talking about why for a couple days now.

Well y first thought was time limits, but they could always start the clock after they'd done talking. My second thought was that there'd have to be a few AI members on the team to take the place of the characters who talk, but again, they could just go after the time starts. Who'd notice?

I wonder why they didn't. Instead of a multiplayer game with a guise of having a single player style story, it could've been the single/multi meld that they so often talked about.

I bought the game for the multiplayer. and i am still enjoying the multiplayer very much, but playing through the game you get pieces of the story and think wow there was so much they could have done with it.

The F.E.A.R. series had so much potential. A creepy Carrie/Ringu esque girl with psychic powers? An army of clone soldiers, controlled by a telepathic hive mind? Secret conspiracies? All from the guys who brought us the Condemned games? Sign me up! Unfortunately, it did not work well at all. I really do not know why either. Monolith knows horror. They proved that with the Condemned series. So, how could they mess up such a promising premise, not once, but twice? It could have been so much more, but in the end, it was nothing special. *sighs*

I phrased that wrong, would be more accurate to say if the spent more of that time ironing out the creases and less of it on the immense scale of the whole thing.

DA2 - Unlike a lot of people here I -really- liked that game (ignoring the lack of enviromental varity) but they could have done SO much more with the whole 10-year deal. As it was it didnt feel at all as if that much time had pased.
Relationships could have developed a LOT more (maybe even marriage? 10 years is quite some time after all), the people and city could of changed significantly much more, the 'jumps' in time via varrics cutscenes should of been used in a different way to make the player actually feel as if time is flowing.

If theres ever been any game where Ive seen lost potential its this right here.
Wait until the modders are allowed to it. Someone will make a mod to marry Anders and it will stem from there. It's the only reason why I wish I had the PC version of DA:O and DA2.

But DA2 in general. It had a great idea, just didn't implement it well enough. (Or have enough time to.)

I have hopes for Darksiders 2.
I agree about darksiders, I never managed to finish it

I found the plot felt like listening in on somone else's conversation about somthing you know nothing about, in other words I didnt know what was going on when I felt like I should (or mabye I wasnt paying close enough attention)

the charachter of war....ugghhh they could have at least tried to make him more interesting (or smile more) I just dont get him,

anyway I got up to the bit where you had to free the angel of death...

Alpha Protocol. It had potential, but even after a massive delay days before it was supposed to release they still screwed it up.

New Vegas could have been way better if they hadn't copy/pasted, but I can forgive it because revolvers. Bioshock 2 could have been better, had it been held back for more multiplayer polishing and overall improvement of gameplay and mechanics.

That dungeon is cool. Redirecting light to the main chamber.
The ending is certainly pretty awesome, even if you don't like the boss fight.

I finished it on normal and stopped in my apocalyptic playthrough in the dungeon you're talking about, since there's one point wher eit introduces a new super armoured enemy, then right after killing it it brings ot two more before I'm allowed to leave the room. I might be able to defeat them, but it may involve using chaos form which would make it harder to level up weapons, which I'm really trying to do.

Fable or Mindjack.
How does mindjack have potential? by the same argument so does Kane & lynch and haze
If Mindjack had done the mind hacking thing well, it would have been really good. The mind hacking was a good idea, but it was just executed poorly.

I didn't think too much about my username. I just have an inescapable fondness for the less than perfect Mirror's Edge. But when Mirror's Edge 2 DOES come out, it WILL be a beautiful use of all that potential that was awkwardly handled in the original. Otherwise, there is no god.

Fire Warrior. Most definitely Fire Warrior.

I don't know how they could f*ck up a Warhammer 40,000 FPS, but they still did it.

I would say Homefront. It was good, but at the price it was sold at, not worth it. I honestly thought alot of what they did for the MP was great, it was much more Battlefield than COD, like so many people seem to keep saying. But the single player was just bad... to name a few:
- Doors. If you just tried it for a little while, you'll know exactly what I mean.
- Length. Shouldnt need to be touched on that much.

If they released Homefront at less than $40, or hell, $30, it might have been more decent.

Also Brink... Thank God I love the gameplay, cause the story is pretty "meh".

*Edit*

Shit.

How could I forget AP. IT could have been great; it even had gameplay aspects that would put other games to shame. So much lost potential...

alpha protocol. So much brilliance in that game, seriously, some mechanics, some ideas are like gems in a mine.

Some bad decisions, probably bad marketing and people thinking it's a first person shooter is what made it bad.
