So let me start off by saying I know i will likley catch some flack for the book I'm speaking about but oh well. Please dont "be that guy" who hates on everything. Anyway I finished the Gears of war book, Gears of War: Aspho Fields. Now I know I'm in the minority that enjoyed Gears 1 and Gears 2 story line but I have to say this book was pretty good. The characters were fleshed out well and the story being told gave good insite into why some of the characters are they way they are. Aspho Fields fleshed out/explained alot of backstory that was desperatly needed to fill in gaps in the Gears universe. So what I would like to have yall respond to is this: What books/novels have you read based on video games? Is the book more engaging than the game? And if you can recommend any more videogame based books that you think others should read.(Also feel free to discuss what you liked and disliked about the Gears or others books like it.)

Second on the Dead Space comic. It works in a way the film Downfall failed to. It also has a unique style, as if it was flung at the page with great force.

It's drawn by Ben Templesmith, if you don't know who he is, 30 Days of Night.

The gears of war book wasn't that good. The dead space comic was awesome, you need to read it and play dead space, they go hand-in-hand. The gears book felt out of place. I once read a halo novel, not a graphic novel. You should look up that halo book.
I really am not a fan of any of the Halo lore or the games so i'm not sure that will work out for me. I am however starting to read the Mass Effect books and they seem to be interesting.

Also ive heard nothing but good things about Dead Space anything.

I haven't read the mass effect book. also if you are a fan of nintendo stuff. There is a translated zelda manga of almost every game in the series.
I only read the 2nd Mass Effect book. It was rather cool, but unless you had played the game you wouldn't have much of a clue about what you are reading. Also, the thing that annoyed me was the whole choice part of the game screwing with the book. Like, the part where you choose whether or not to let the council die or save them. You apparently let them die. I would have liked it if they avoided that entirely, but it was a good book.

I read the first Mass Effect book, and found it quite good. It was about on par with the game (since the same guy, Drew Karpyshyn, wrote both of them).
