[Mittens The Kitten]

Apparently the DS stopped being gimmicky and started making good innovative games when i wasn't looking. Ive heard a lot of good things about the DS as a handheld system and have decided to buy one, does anyone have any good suggestions for some good games that i can start out with?

Pokemon games are great. Soul Silver is the most recent.

Professor Layton, Pheonix Wright, Disgea, Advance Wars, Mario, and Pokemon are all worthwhile series that I'd recommend looking into. Some notable games I'd get are any Pheonix Wright game, Pokemon: Black/White (Doesn't come out in America for a while, but it is awesome nonetheless), New Super Mario Bros., Mario 64 DS, and Advance Wars: Dual Strike.
A lot of these are sequels, but they are awesome.

I'd recommend Dark Conflict more, purely because I thought the units were better and all the characters werent annoying unbelievable tosspots.

I'd recommend Dark Conflict more, purely because I thought the units were better and all the characters werent annoying unbelievable tosspots.

Yeah, it's good, but I personally just didn't really like the sudden switch to a super dark storyline. I preferred the past Advance Wars' lighter things, but overall, both are good games for the DS.

I love the legend of zelda games. It make take a minute to get used to not using buttons, but they are still good games.

Couldn't stand not being able to use ANY buttons. They took the touch screen "innovation" too far IMO.
