I used the search bar and nothing of consequence came up so, what's you're opinion on this console that came out after the DS had already launched.

I bring this up because I bought one on ebay and I LOVE it, I had wanted to play all those old GBA games that I love, however I really didn't want to use my DS to do so. I wanted the real experience. Then I remembered this thing. I never had one so I figured I would bite a bullet and test it out. Wow, was I impressed, it's sleek, and plays great, small, but not too small, and as far as I'm concerned it is the gameboy perfected. It now saddens me that nintendo moved on to the gimmicky DS. They should have just continued with the gameboy line. Don't get me wrong, the DS has had some gems that actually used the technology well, but after playing this it just seems like for all of that "innovation" a small part of gaming died because of it.

Opinions? Comments?

How much did you pay for it, I've also wanted one

Personally I agree that they should have continued with the gameboys, I'm fed up with getting weird looks on the train when I have to blow into my DS mic

$70, yes I could have gotten one at gamestop for $30, but they are pretty rare and none of the stores in my area had any. That and the one I bought is in flawless condition, came with the original box, a case, and 5 games, 3 of which I'm going to play and the other 2 I can just sell or something. So just check ebay and maybe you'll luck out like I did.

I've been toying with the idea of getting a GBA, but was thinking an SP, is the Micro better? (I only really want one because I miss Pokemon and hate the DS).

Good!
Very Good!

I use mine everyday during my commute; and yes I also have a DS and a PSP but I usually take those out for vacations and such. My micro is for everyday use.

I prefer the micro to the sp: yes the screen is smaller but it has a built in headphone jack. Maybe of no real use to you but I have a cartridge that I can use to listen to music while reading ebooks (and yes I know I can do a lot more with it but my needs are relatively simple) which is great for the subway.

Actually- most of the books I've read over the past few years have been off the micro.

Personally I loved the SP. Its a flip-top, and the backlight and rechargable battery pack made gaming on the go so much more viable, (I freak-out when my screen scratches! I usually spend months playing unitl I even remove the see-through sticker on the screen you sometimes get!).

It is quite large still though. I guess it comes down to preference.

I'm not saying the DS wasn't a good idea, it's execution has been poor, most games barely even utilize the second screen. If they had gone with a traditional system, maybe a larger screen, and DS level graphics, except with no second touch screen it would have been better. Then developers wouldn't feel the need to add pointless gimmicks. It would have sold just as well as the DS has. Same could be said for the Wii, wtb traditional consoles next cycle, it's far too late for that though.

It seems like a pretty decent choice... unless, that is, if you want to play Game Boy/Game Boy Color games (like me), which the GBA Micro will not do. Thus, I'd stick with the GBA SP.

And if anyone asks why would I need the ability to play GB/GBC games, I will answer in three words:
Wario. Land. II.

When it came out: POINTLESS

Now: Not a bad way to go play old games. Like Metroid Fusion.

I preferred my Gameboy Advance SP. It was nowhere near as comfortable as the Gameboy Advance, but it could fold away saving some space, and the screen lit up, making gaming at night far easier (in the car and stuff).

GBA SP is the best, it's small has a bigger screen than the Micro and it closes up to protect the screen.

Make sure you look out for the GBA SP with the "brighter screen" because that one is actually backlit, the other is front lit.
