I've been a member of Gamefly for the better part of two months, and one thing that's upsetting me is the time that it takes to ship/recieve a game. It seems that the service takes it's time to make sure that you only get 1 game a week, and never get the game you want. In the two months that I've been signed up, I have yet to recieve a game that I really want to play, and not just a "filler" game.

Anyways, I apologize for the rant, but I'm curious, has anyone else been as frustrated with this service as I have?

I've been a member for a year and a half, and the only time I have an issue is when I put more than 3 titles in my list. The best thing to do is make your list have only one game. Then you are essentially guaranteed that game.

It usually takes me about a week as well. I've been waiting for MadWorld for the better part of 4 days...

I've been generally satisfied with them. I've been a member for over a year, and I do like that if a new title in my queue comes out and I have an open rental slot, odds are that I'll get the game shipped out that same day. The "Fast Return" feature is nice when it works, and I've only had issues with 2 games not working from them.

That all being said, it is not without it's flaws. Being a Netflix and Gamefly subscriber, the added 1-3 day delay I experience with GF that I don't with NF gets frustrating sometimes. Also, sometimes games seem to take an extended period of time to be returned to them. I live in CT and my nearest shipping center is in Pittsburgh, and a few games have taken nearly 5 business days to arrive, typically at the least convenient times. Finally, the service sometimes gets confused with multiple games out and the fast return.

I have a 2-game account. In preparation for last week's MadWorld and RE5 releases, I had 1 slot open from the previous week and 1 game out that I was going to send back on Monday. Theoretically, MadWorld should have shipped out from the open slot, and RE5 would have shipped out after the Monday game was returned, which would likely have happened via Fast Return. INSTEAD, MadWorld shipped out via Fast Return, which only applies for games that are still in transit. The open slot essentially disappeared and RE5 wouldn't ship out until the game in transit was received. Of course they didn't get the game in time and I was stuck without RE5 even though I had slots prepared for it.

So essentially, it is good if you know how to use it and is getting better as they improve their methods and add new shipping centers.

I send out the game on Day 1, it flies through the mail on Day 2, and they get it on Day 3.
Gamefly costs a lot but it's really nice to have someone to switch out broken Gamecube games with.
Secretly.

I was actually going to post something like this.

I was a member of gamefly a while back when I first got my PS3. I got some of the old games, but none of the new ones were ever available. I canceled shortly thereafter.

I just renewed for like 8 bucks 3 days ago. I put a couple games in my queue. They are Mirror's Edge (high availability), Rise of the Argonauts (low availability), 50 cent game (low), Banjo Kazooie (high), and one other medium one. So far, they have shipped NOTHING. It's been 3 days and nothing has been shipped. I sent them an email complaining and they basically said that they would send one when one becomes available.

Gamefly is a joke. I hate it. I'm canceling after this month is up. They need to get more games or else they are going to continue to lose their customer base. I'd pay twice the price that is offered to be guranteed games. I don't mean all the time. I know some games that come out are in high demand right away. But Mirror's Edge? Banjo Kazooie? These games have been out for a while. Blockbuster has plenty...they should too. Especially when they specialize in video games.

Well something you must realize is that there are other people in the world, and other people want the same games and that they go through a list of people who want it and give out the game in order.
If you have an open slot on the day a game comes out, and you have that game in your queue at the very top, then there's an extremely high chance you will get that game on that day. But, if you wait until the day AFTER the game is released, then there's an extremely high chance you won't get it.

I'm pretty satisfied with Gamefly, even if the chances of me getting a game that's newly released are next to nothing.

After all, all the games in my game queue are games I really wanted to play, but never had the time/money to actually go out and by when they were first released anyway.

That's another thing too. I do like its selection of older, last-gen games. I was able to revisit Killer 7 with GF, as well as experiencing the masterpiece that is Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem.

Gamefly is exclusive to North America, correct? I don't think that it ships to the rest of the world, but in any case, I had an open slot the day that Race Pro came out, and what do you know, I got a game that was 14th on my queue!

I just don't understand how they can't purchase enough games to satisfy it's customers.

I'm in Green Bay, and it takes forever for them to recieve the games that I shipped back, and for them to send one. The closest shipping center to me is Pittsburg, and yet, every game I get comes from City of Industry, CA??? In addition to that, I sent a game back last saturday, and they still haven't recieved it...I'm calling shenanigans!

Yeah, they ain't perfect, it's really annoying when they send a game way at the bottom at the queue. It makes me realize how much I did not actually want to play that game on my queue. It fills up the queue for DAYS, just wasting it because the game at the top of the queue is a much higher priority, but I got the other game instead and won't get a chance at the game I actually wanted for like another week.
There is some other Gamefly-esque service I have seen but I forgot what it's called.

I'm having little if any complaint...yeah it ships slower than Netflix...but on the other hand games and movies are different, a movie you can watch once and send it back, but a game you could have a few weeks..

technically it's a very cheep service when you compare say, renting a game each week at Hastings or something for a month at almost $5 bucks a rental, or buying every game used only to find out a few hours later that it's crap...or even new and discovering the same thing.

I love however that there is usually the option to buy the game from them too.. like lets say soul caliber 4... my son loves it, and wants me to buy it...Gamefly is charging me $10 to $15 LESS to buy the copy they sent me compared to gamestop for a used copy, and they send out the book, and case for it....so I can't complain..

Most of all though it's a better way for me to try out games I otherwise would not touch..I'm naturally frugal, and rather not always want to cough up 60 bucks for a new game I am unsure of, or am not familiar with the genre as much as I could etc etc...Im of the era of rent, then buy..

but at the same time, I also dont replay most games once I beat it, very few hold replay value with me, even if I love the game... so it makes finding those games worth keeping and replaying easier.
