Since Gamestop is the only video game store near me, and since Gamestop sucks, I was thinking about trying out Gamefly. Anyone have any experence with it, or recomendations? Should I even bother with Gamefly?

It is wonderful. I have saved a ridiculous amount of money thus far because of it. Just don't be surprised if the games take a while to get to you I am in the middle of nowhere in northern illinois and the games take about a week to arrive. The best part is now i can play anything, I don't have to pick and choose. I only buy games i know i will either A play online or B there will be future DLC (like fallout 3). It is a great way to play games that you willl play through once and never touch again. I could not recommend it more.

Like between 10-25 bucks a month depending on how many games you want out. I think it goes from 1-4.

I've had mixed experiences. I used the service when it was just starting and I really liked it. But eventually I stopped using it because I was buying enough games to keep me busy and the need for it was gone.

A few years later I decided to sign back up and the experience wasn't quite as positive. They would pull games from low on my queue to send to me instead of the next game I had listed (i.e. the ones I actually wanted) and getting a game while it's anywhere near "new release" status was often difficult.

It's been over a year since that bad experience so things may have changed since then. But I just wanted to point out that it's not all lollipops and rainbows.

No it is about the same but the problem is not the service its your expectations. I don't expect to get the first game on my list every time so I make sure my list is populated with games i want to play so that whatever is sent it is something I want.

You also cannot focus on playing the new releases when they are new, instead put games on there that you don't care if they are new when you play them then ignore all the talk on here and the spoilers for the big games. The games where you will fall behind the curve in multiplayer i recommend purchasing anyway.

I maintain it is a wonderful service so long as you don't expect to get the game the day its released. I could give a crap whether I play the games I gamefly immediately or later because I make sure that I am happy with the entire list. Patience is absolutely required if you are not a patient person you will not be happy with the service.

I started with two games but then went to one since i was only playing one at a time anyway. I thought originally that two would be good to stagger so that i would always have something new, but i found that games i purchased or old games that i am still playing more than made up for the time where the game was in the mail.

BTW they have a free trial period go ahead and see if you like it then quit if it doesn't work out.

You can also buy ridiculously cheap top rated games after having them and making sure they work. Way cheaper than used at Gamestop.

Whats Gamefly? I have honestly never heard of it. Is it a renting service or something?
Gamefly, my good sir, is a business that you can rent, trade-in, or buy games from for a fee online.

GameFly is pretty awesome. I'd have it right now, except I don't really have enough time on my hands to play that many games. $25/mo for any 2 games at a time is great up until you realize you've had the same 2 games for several months because you haven't made the time to play them.

It's a godsend as far as services go but I don't keep my account active all the time. I let a stockpile of games I want to play, but not enough to buy, build up before I activate it.

That's really what this service is great for.

I had Gamefly for awhile. About three months, actually. During that time, I never once recieved anything in the top seven games of my queue. I cancelled it.

I would recommend limiting your q to 1 game so you will only receive that game and not something further down the list.

Well, most of them were when I started with Gamefly (note: I can think of at least one that wasn't), but since my top seven never changed, by the time I cancelled they were all at least three months old.

Compare to Netflix, where I've never ever not gotten the top item in my queue, even if it's a brand new release.

I'm sorry, but I rarely want to rent "a game", I usually want to rent a specific title. Gamefly does not provide this service.

I've been using Gamefly ever since I bought (and hated) No More Heroes.
I love it because I don't regret my actual purchases anymore. I live in NYC so I get the games anywhere from 3-6 days depending on what post office I send it from (the ones by my house are slllllow) so I try to send them back at the beginning of the week to get something else by the weekend.

Now, when you do want to buy something, the prices aren't going to be much better than Gameslop (the one by my house is even worse than the post office; longer lines too) BUT every three months they give you $5 credit. On top of that, they give you a 5% discount after 6 months and a 10% discount after 9 or 12 months; can't remember exactly.

When you do decide to keep the game they send you the next one on your list and the case & instructions for the one you want to keep.

It has saved me from buying some pretty awful games so it ends up paying for itself after a couple of 3 hour rentals: most recently Bionic Commando (loved the original on NES) which I played for a couple of hours and sent right back.

I recently signed up for Gamefly and have been pleased with it. I haven't attempted to get any brand new games from it, however, and I do hear that they have a seniority approach to newer games. The older your Gamefly account, the more likely they are to send you a new release.

I just got my consoles so there's an old backlog that I want to play anyway.

It can be kind of slow. It took them about 10 days to receive Super Mario Galaxy and send out Uncharted. But took them only four to receive Uncharted and for me to receive Valkeriya Chronicles, so it's a case-by-case thing.
