GameFront is shutting down

Mod DB has issued a call to action, offering to host any and all GameFront files people submit to them (unless the original creator wishes otherwise).

Between that and the impending launch of FilesNation, it seems like a good portion of modding history will be preserved after all (at least for now).

I should search through my parents' ancient desktop PC the next time I visit them. There's a good chance I may have some old files that were lost during the partial shutdown last year.

Anybody get the feeling that Defy is the internet media version of those alien civilizations that hop from planet to planet, using up all of the natural resources and kill all the local lifeforms culminating in them destroying the planet and moving onto the next doomed world?

The shutdown appears to have been a few days early.

Seeing as how I had only just gotten internet for the first time in my life, FileFront was the very first online community I ever joined. Those six years were great. I will miss the place.

The staff managed to get in contact with other interested mod sites to back everything up, so I don't know if they can currently be accessed but they are safe. The forums were successfully moved to FilesNation as well.
