I hear a lot of things about hardcore and casual gaming. I understand hardcore is like Halo and causal is like Wii Bowling and such. Where do I fit in between that?

I don't play on XBOX Live, but I read sites like Escapist and IGN. I don't play most games that are released that are huge like Modern Warfare, Halo, Assassin's Creed, etc.

I own these games (all for the 360, only game system I own):
The Godfather
Bully: Scholarship Edition
Gears of War 2 (received as a gift, never played it online)
Ace Combat 6
Saints Row 1 & 2
a few Madden games
March Madness 08
NHL 09
MLB and NBA 2k10
Tony Hawk Project 8

So where do I fit in the gaming spectrum.

You are just, to put this as simply as I can, a gamer.
You are neither hardcore or casual. As are most gamers here, they are just a gamer.

In the middle, I guess, but does it really matter? I would consider myself a "hardcore" gamer because I'm pretty sure I've spent well over $1,000 on games and things relating to games this year alone and I keep up with the news and spend most of my free time either playing games or talking about playing games.

But yeah, if you can count and name all of your games like you just did, you're not hardcore. But it's not an insult.

Youd be just a "gamer". I wouldent call you a casual, because you do own several games ment for a more hardcore crowd.
But you dont play hardcore games.

So, as of right now, your a gamer. Nothing more, nothing less.

I consider myself a "Core Gamer", because of the way i play. Im not hardcore, and winning isnt everything for me, but i still try my best and end up with great scores.

This is the majority of my opinion on it. The classification in general is pointless drivel conjured up by:

a) People insecure about their habits.
b) The media appealing to these insecurities.

You are a...

Italian bully, chainsaw gun wielding pilot, gangsta, affiliated with the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, and occasionally enjoy to pull a rad skateboard trick or two.

That's what kind of a gamer you are.

You're a member of the Typical Gaming Jock Society (c), which specializes heavily in sports games and gangsta-style games. While you love and adore all sports, the only one you can actually play in real life is ultimate frisbee.
You only like manly action games, and tend to skip all the cutscenes if a game has a story at all.

A TGJ generally has these in his arsenal:
Gears of War
Rock Band/Guitar Hero
At least two Madden games
At least two of the following: NHL, NCAA (any), MLB
Of course, YMMV. Some like GTA, but only for the gratuitous violence and language.

Sorry for the extremely broad generalization; I'm trying to act like one of those "which kind of nerd are YOU?" polls. :D

Don't limit yourself to a single part of the spectrum, I'm one of the people that thinks we shouldn't even be labeled as gamers, just go with the flow, pay wht you enjoy, what else matters (in this contex)

I've easily spent more than double that.
Plus a new PS3 and a new 360S.

TAKE THAT! My e-peen is almost large enough to compensate for my lack of a nice car and other things I could have spent that money on. Like rent for a nicer apartment.

OT: You're just a gamer dude.
TBQH you don't want to be a hardcore gamer, I don't think I'm hardcore. I just game.

Like, every day.

Don't fret too much, if you're willing to walk into a bar and tell a chick you're a gamer, then you're approaching 0 Hardcore. You don't want to go much further.

I see hardcore as a monkier reserved for people like the characters in Pure Pwnage. True Pwnerers and people with 1337 5k|11z!! and Epic Micro, who'll zerg rush you, with marines!! People who can teabag on the run and circle strafe in console games.

OHSHI-

OT: Really dude you're whatever you want to be. I would be a "hardcore" gamer, except I only have enough money to buy a game every few months, and even then they're usually a few years old (to give you an idea, I JUST bought Fallout 3) I love gaming, I just cant show my love like the guys who spend literally thousands of dollars to show off they're "e-peen".

I'm like the guy who writes a song for a girl I like with a kazoo compared to a guy who buys her a Diamond Ring. Yes I care, but theres no way I can match what that other dude is doing lol
