Hello Escapist Community. I could really use your help. My husband and I are trying to think of anything we can for our 10th anniversary vacation. Trouble is, our major hobbies are all stay-at-home kind of things. Movies, games, D&D, comics, etc. We are planning a vacation the first week in October and can't think of anywhere worth going. Right now it's looking like a stay at home and game all week vacation (not a bad thought). Sun/Sand = No thank you. We don't have any romance issues so all those "Anniversary Packages" are just a snoozefest. We live in the Southeast U.S. but we're willing to travel if the destination is right. We'd appreciate any advise you've got. Thanks everyone!

If you aren't in the area (though it sounds like you are), if you're into Harry Potter, go to Harry Potter Land, or whatever it's called

Can you take some of your DnD crew with you? DnD camping can be stellar; bring some miniatures and use the natural landscape :)

I've done it. It's very fun.

Well your best bet is google it. Just doing that I get animecon starting... well tomorrow in orlando and lasting a couple days. Of course I would also suggest not deciding on a time before you have a destination.

To put it plainly is the general date of your anniversary as important as going somewhere fun? It shouldn't matter that you two where married in October and vacation in September or August, but some people are sticklers for those things.(just food for thought)

There are probably a few more sites like this if you prefer trading card games, videogames, or american comics. Just do a little digging.

Vegas. Believe it or not, it isn't terribly expensive, and there is something for just about everyone there.

Thanks to everyone who posted. There are a lot of good ideas in here. We had actually considered Vegas but I'm still hoping to see some snow at some point in my life. The Cons link is awesome. Thanks dmase.

Yay, I'm not the only one who finds "romantic getaways" to be boring!

There's nothing wrong with having a stay-home vacation, I mean just think of all the money you'll save. You could use that money to upgrade or buy new computers, consoles, a nice sound system, a bigger HDTV, games games GAMES! Heh.

Personally, I don't like doing a lot of traveling unless I'm with a bunch of friends. I actually find just going on week-long road trips with little to no direction can actually be really fun. I can't imagine doing that with only one other person though.

You may have to wait a little bit past October to see some snow, unless you're looking to go WAAAAY north into Canada.
