My girlfriend steals my PC to play Team Fortress 2 and Left 4 Dead 2... the jerk.
I would have just said "this" but in fear of submitting a low content post...

My girl friend is also better at me then the above mentioned games.
My girlfriend started getting a little lippy about being better than me at those games, so I took it a little personally, and bought her a gaming laptop, installed Steam, gifted her TF2 and handed her her pretty little butt. Loser.

If I can find a few games that me and my girl can play together I'd be set. Doesn't even matter what games they are.

I wonder when topics about female gamers will end? I don't really get what the fuss is about but maybe that's just me.
I've rarely met one. Actually, when I do meet them, they tend to be assholes, but that's just my own experiences on the subject. I'm not a particular fan of women in general, and they, by virtue of my rather obscure intellectual interests, are not typically a fan of me.
Or it could be the misogyny.

You know, there's that.

Unfortunately, I'm not a big fan of FPSs. I like RPGs and the like so if there isn't an interesting story, I tend to get bored. The down side to those games is you usually can't play with someone else, so we'd probably have to fight over the controller.
If you're looking for adventure rpg'ish games to play with your friend or your hypothetical boyfriend, I'd suggest you look into "Hunted: The Demon's Forge" or Alternatively "Guild Wars" (the ladder is technically an MMO, but is focused more on the story and co-op aspects). Both RPG's and both feature co-op opportunity.

This made me interested in creating a thread about female gamers vs male gamers...

I would assume that the differences between a female vs. male gamer with the same experience would be negligible/non-existent.

Mine is a damn good gamer. And oddly enough, she's more into FPS's than I am!

Her favorite activity is playing Zombies on Blops, though she also enjoys a lot of fantasy games, for LoTR is her favorite thing EVAR.

*Sniff*

Love that girl...

I'd love my girlfriend to be a gamer.
She's had one attempt at CoD:WaW zombies and found it fun, which is good.

Only thing is she's been negatively influenced about games by her douchebag older brother. He's a lazy selfish git and she's blamed games for this. Sadface.

Yes, I have played Guild Wars and it is quite fun. I really should get back to it, especially since it doesn't have a monthly fee. I was a bit worried about Hunted: The Demon's Forge. It looks more actiony than plot based, but if it's got a good plot than I'll certainly give it a shot!

We did the same, execpt we went to a friends house which has two gaming computers. She played her class, sniper, and I chose random...

Spy came up, with the polycount set with the dead ringer.

I won... it was glorious, she didn't get to kill me.

My significant other has played RPGs since Baulder's Gate.

Her favorite console game is Fable II&III - she played Fable II over and over and over and over and over and over and over....and over.

She's started playing WoW again with the launch of Cataclysm with me, as a goblin priest, and we finally were running a dungeon (more for a quest item than to run a dungeon...she's not big on grouping with other people) and the healer DC'd. So the tank asked her if she'd heal, and she did with some trepidation.

She absolutely loved it. She's played a hunter on and off since TBC launched, but now she is all about running dungeons (I've since leveled up a tank to the early 20s so we can complement one another better), and is asking me to hop on so she has a tank to heal - it's quite fun, but if she wasn't a gamer that'd be A.O.K. with me too. Gaming is a wonderful shared hobby, but there's so much more to a healthy relationship.

I know that feeling of pride and joy you're talking about. I had a girlfriend who just couldn't get accustomed to any sort of 3D interface. Not even WoW, back when I used to play. But she gave it her best shot, and she had tremendous patience and hunger to learn all the lore about the games I play (RPGs mainly, so...).

On the other hand, I had another girlfriend, who used to play Sims 3 all day. Literally. All day. It was... cute but disturbing. Sort-of like a Chucky movie. :))

My girlfriend actually uses this site. (Hi, Cyanne. :]) And she plays her fair share of games. She recently just beat Alan Wake, has gotten farther in Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas than I have, and got WAAAAAY farther in Dragon Age than I probably ever will.

I feel extremely lucky to have her.

As far as our skill levels are concerned, I think I am better, only because I am that much more dedicated to gaming than she is. But, like I said, she is definitely good.

Damn right, my sister's awesome!!

OT: I'd see it as a requirement. If she's not a gamer, then I'd have barely anything in common with them, most likely.

I wouldn't mind if I found a girl that didn't play games as long as she was okay with me playing them. Although, considering I'll probably spend most of my life with them I think I'd eventually start trying to brainwash her. I've already transitioned my sister off of the Disney channel and onto Minecraft so it shouldn't be too hard.

I've had a gamer girlfriend for years (highschool sweetheart). It is pretty awesome to have a guaranteed player in most everything, but the problem is she wants to play EVERYTHING together. Dunno if its a girl thing, or just mine. Still, wouldnt change a thing.

Also, she does actually play real games. She's been my wingman in Gears 2, and runs a Siren in Borderlands.

Whenever my girlfriend comes round it doesn't take her long before she starts loading up a game. She'll then play it and get me to help her on bits she can't do. It's a weird thing because she's not great at them, gets extremely frustrated at them, blaming her mistakes on the game, then will say that I wanted her to play it!

Discussion: Does it matter to you if your Significant Other plays games or at least tries to play them. And are you like me in which seeing them try just fills you up with some sort of joy.

So the other day I was talking to my girlfriend about the game Fallout New Vegas. I realized that in the past month I had spent over 90 hours of gameplay on it. She called me crazy said I was a loser, jokingly only though. I told her that she just had no idea. The game was huge tons of stuff to do and was incredibly fun. She mentioned that she wanted to see what I was talking about so I told her that she should try and beat the game. Now she isn't really a gamer to say the least. She'll play Black Ops with her brother and any Sonic game, even the bad ones, and some DDR. But when I told her that she'd have a lot of trouble beating the game she took it on as a challenge. I helped her of in the first few minutes today. I told her what stats to use and sort of explained the game to a very un-game savvy person. After about 20 minutes on her own she still had no idea what the compass was trying to do and as much as i tried to explain vats to her she still didn't attempt to use it. She gave up for the day when she couldn't find the flowers needed to get through the tutorial. Though I'm sort of proud of her for even trying to get involved in something that I spend a lot of time on I hate to say that I find it hilarious that she can't even figure out the simplest of things. I'm being very patient with her and it's hard to explain something over Xbox Live chat. I really do hope that she can get the hang of the game and let it be one more thing to talk about.
Uh oh. Your shouldn't try to teach her how to play Fallout New Vegas, at least not on the 360. New Vegas is chocked full of bugs, and the least buggy platform is the PC, but its still a buggy game. Brilliant but buggy. I'm saying this because she might get frustrated when it bugs out.

A good game to introduce people to gaming is Minecraft...although you NEED to teach them because Minecraft is hard to figure out for anyone!
