I assumed it meant "I am a gamer. Don't like it? Then go kill yourself."Hunter85792 said:Okay... I don't really understand what this means. Can someone explain this to me?
Edit: Right, so it's saying that unless you're a gamer who takes pride in the fact that you're a gamer you should commit suicide? Man, that is awkwardly phrased...
I am still equally pissed at the vegetarian version. Doesn't seem to change the meaning for me.Mikeyfell said:Now imagine if it said
Vegetarian with pride.
If you don't like it, commit suicide.
It's basically saying "live and let live, or die."
I think it's appropriate. Mostly because Gamers have been unjustly accused of being the cause of 100% of the violent things that have ever happened ever.
And suggesting that people who subscribe to that notion should kill themselves, because we certainly aren't going to do that but we are upset that you breath the same air as us kind of has a poetic justice to it.
Pretty much this, except I read it more as an awkward rhyming way of saying "I'm a proud gamer. If you have a problem with that, you can go kill yourself."bastardofmelbourne said:That's a really awful...rhyming...pun...thing.
It's kind of saying "Have good self-esteem and take pride in yourself, or die!"
What about homosexual with prideBrotherRool said:I am still equally pissed at the vegetarian version. Doesn't seem to change the meaning for me.Mikeyfell said:Now imagine if it said

The difference as other people in the thread have pointed out is that suicide is a nasty thing that people struggle with and are victim of. It's horribly misunderstood and it's really tasteless to bring it up.
Don't like it? Fuck off. would be fine, it's still a bit stupid because all that does is make people more determined to get in an argument with you, but at least you don't look like a dick when you say it.
I... wait are you being serious?TheKasp said:The difference is that blacks, women, homosexuals and jews still face prejudices and have problems (depending on the region) but gamers... I got nothing. The best thing that can be said about gamers is that sometimes politicians try to rally up votes by saying something against video games but don't follow up with anything that can be legally accomplished. And it targets video games - not the individual persons enjoying the game. So gamers face no suffering, no problems and no prejudices. But hey, they are proud and peeps who don't like that should just kill themselfs...
Honestly, still the same. (I didn't even pick up on the rhyme though which is incredibly stupid of me =D).Mikeyfell said:What about homosexual with pride
or black with pride
or a woman with pride
or Jewish with pride
It's not making light of suicide it's saying that bigots (Specifically to this case people who are prejudiced against gamers) have no place in the world.
Besides "pride" doesn't rime with "fuck off" so you loose the rime and the message that bigoted ass holes should by rights be dead. The notion that bigoted ass holes should just keep to their own kind would lead to all sorts of problems later down the line
People who have a shitty enough life to be close enough to suicide that some words on a JPEG would tip them over the edge should be in therapy and not on the internet.
The better question is: Are you actually serious? Gamers are oppressed? Don't make me laugh.Mikeyfell said:I... wait are you being serious?
Have you ever seen a single news article paint games in a positive light?
It's true that nobody's ever oppressed the gaming culture for hundreds of years, they've only oppressed it for like 20 or 30 years because it's only been around that long.
Either way this isn't about the double standard it's about the message and I think it's a good one.
