Let me start out by saying I am a gamer and I drink energy drinks but why do energy drink companies make them for gamers for example Monster assault I mean playing games does not take that much energy. I drink them when I do judo and sometimes when i just want them. People can drink anything they want I just want know why they are marketing them to gamers.

Hate energy drinks. Toxic, toxic, toxic.

I'll stick to tried and true coffee.

Though I did go through a Rockstar phase at one point while doing pizza deliveries til 4am every weekend...
Are they targeted toward gamers? Never really noticed.

They market energy drinks to gamers who want to stay up all night to play games. I think.

Gamers tend to stay up late and need to be alert still.

So basically its because they help us pwn noobs for longer!

People get engrossed in game and want to spend all night playing, and yet their bodies won't let them, so they need energy drinks. They don't market to athletes as they have enough energy anyway, and besides, they taste good.

Because of commercials like this mostly.

There's a stereotype that gamers are XTREME! (Note that I spelled that with an X instead of an E)

Gamers see themselves as live fast, die hard types, and see their lifestyle of doing nothing but playing video games as hardcore instead of pathetic.

At least, that's the stereotype. There are people like that, but for the most part, gamers (even noncasual ones) are pretty normal people.

I find energy drinks to be both unhealthy and disgusting, so I don't drink it.
The most caffeinated thing I'll drink is coffee, and even then, I don't drink much.
I'll stick to unsweetened iced tea, thank you very much.

I love Relentless... seriously the tastiest energy drink out there by far and there is loads more in a can than Red Bull.

Also if you buy it wholesale you can get it for under a pound a can.

Ditto. It's pretty much the same reason as coffee. But without the having to make it part.

Because gamers have wild gaming parties every night where they stay up playing Halo, Call of Duty, and Smash Bros. until the wee hours of the morning. Didn't you know?

In all seriousness though, those things will save your life in all-night gaming parties. I don't have them all that often, but they're great to have now and again for fun and awesomeness. Energy drinks really help with that. Also, they saved my life while I was doing video for a summer camp. Putting the end-of-camp video together over the last two days was murder.

Can't stand energy drinks. Way too much caffeine. Definitely not good for one's health. Plus I don't feel like getting re-addicted to caffeine (even if it was only minor).

I really dont like energy drinks. Some of my mates talk about drinking loads of em, and, honestly, I find it a bit immature, like little kids who go mental after too much sunny D

I never drink them for gaming, but sometimes I need a boost when I have to be up early for work but have to stay up late if I want even the remotest chance of face time with my boyfriend. *shrug* personally, I like Rockstar Punched and Lemonade. They're the yummy ones.

I use them to recharge AFTER all night gaming sessions. If i drink them whilst i play, i tend to do a lot worse for some reason (maybe makes me too jumpy?)

Nasty. Just thinking of them make me sick.

And I'm no health nut either.

I dig Sour Skittles, Dr. Pepper, or coffee.
