I was on escapist IRC last night and happened to ask around to see if anyone could give me any explanation for American Football. For a laugh I added "in haiku form."
The boys did an admirable job explaining the sport to me in haiku, but it got me thinking. What is it with gamers and haiku? If you ask any gamer to express any sentiment in haiku they will immediately rise to the challenge. Imagine asking your banker to give you your credit analysis in haiku. Or a car salesman to give you the advantages of a car in haiku. At best they would laugh it off and speak normally, at worst they'd give you a strange look and ask you to leave.
So I ask you this: why have gamers latched onto an obscure form of japanese poetry so fervently?
Please give your answer in haiku form.
