A gamers block is when you reach a point in a game and for no plausible reason you just stop playing. You look back and you can't pick what it was that stopped you playing. You can recover from this condition and go back to the game or it can gather dust. Extremer cases have led to people giving up gaming altogether or for at least a number of years

My own experience in this was during the first kingdom hearts when I got to the boss in the Tarzan world and then again in the bowels of Hallow Bastion. But, after a few months break at each occasion, I finished the game in the end and now its my favourite game.

Still hoping to get back to Fallout 3, think I was in a town built around a giant bomb or something.

Anyone else experience this?

I get this. For some reason, I find it a very laboured effort to start a new game on Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime 3 or Okami.

Got exactly the same thing in Fallout 3 when on Point Lookout.
Got to the part where I had to the Giant Punga Fruit or something then just stopped.
But yesterday, I deleted the save and started afresh having not played F3 for 2 months.
The same for FF X but for not as long, maybe a week.

It happend to me on Ico in the area with the windmill. I was completely ditched and had no idea how to continue so I through it in the closet.

Then, a year or so later I gave it another shot and I was able to finish it and I loved it.

I've never finished HL2 ep 2 - always get up to the bit where you put the gnome in the rocket if you're doing the achievement and then quit.

Yeah that happens to me all the time, though I know exactly why I stopped playing Mirror's Edge.

It happened recently with Dead Space. I don't know why. Its a great game but for some reason I just can't bring myself to play it.

Happened to me in Oblivion and Fallout 3. I'm not sure why anymore.
When I hit a "gammer's block." I usually start a new game.

This happened to me with GTA: San Andreas. I got stuck on one mission and the other one available wasn't much better, so I just put it down. Picked it back up, finished one of the missions - hooray! Next mission is equally difficult, or maybe moreso, so I wound up just getting frustrated with it. And I don't shy away from games for being difficult, but there was an annoyance factor there too. I don't quite remember why at this point. Maybe I'll finally finish it someday.

I also never finished MGS3 because the camera annoyed the crap out of me. I did pick up Subsistence though, and plan to get to that soon.

Happens to me all the time, especially with Lost Odyssey, I think I've restarted that game about 6 times. Every time I play it for a few hours then sack it off for a few months and have to restart because I have no idea what's going on next time I fire it up.

Its currently sitting on my shelf with probably around 5 hours on the clock and i've no idea where im up to on it.

Happened to me for Fallout 3 around the level cap - but strangely I wasn't enticed into that DLC that increases it.

Also happened for FFVIII, but for very specific reasons: I was "locked in" a dungeon and needed to beat a boss to continue the story. But for most of the game I had made the mistake of letting my Guardian Forces do all the work, and thus my own characters were kinda weak.

Here's the problem: The boss has one of your party members "captured" on his side of the field.
Guardian Force attacks hit all enemies.

Since I was locked in, I couldn't train anywhere, and basically had to give up.

Any number of games with game breaking glitches that I've encountered (E.g. Sphynx and the Cursed Mummy)

Disgaea (psp). For some unknown reason I stopped playing it after getting half way through it for about 6 months. Then summer came, I dug the game back up, and beat every single facet of it.

These are old games but the Aladdin game for the SNES I could never beat as a young child, picked it up a year ago, beat it in two hours. Donkey Kong 64, got stuck at a boss, still haven't beaten it.

As for more recent games? Not a huge fan of the FF series but I tried Final Fantasy X and got myself stuck in an area where one step forward results in an encounter against my half-dead team and one step back to get more health results in another encounter with my half-dead team. Either way I died so I just stopped playing and doubt I will ever start up again.

I get it, but for plausible reasons. Sometimes it's because a level/boss is too damn hard, and others because I have other games I want to play more.
