If I'm having trouble reading it due to bad spelling, leet speak, or the letter x thrown in randomly I hate it. Is it so hard to have a legible username?

In TF2 we often see some peeps with clan tags and such in their names, that's a given so maybe it looks weird, but the name is still something you can read. Nothing like "BuNcHesOFNUTZ1284" I really wonder where they get the numbers for, either facesmashing the keyboard or maybe its like the last 4 of their social or something.

In WoW, I have played on several servers, but a couple of my mainstays are rp or rppvp, meaning that most people have names that they took a minute to think about and have some intention of roleplaying, even if it is just with people they know and no one else. Here I have to laugh at obviously american people with names that 'look' like they are of japanese decent, but are actually gibberish like "Touchisamamarusan" (actual name I once saw). Same with people who reference Naruto, DBZ, etc. as if it was too hard to come up with a name for a character.

Anything to do with modern "meme" culture, including things like

Lolumad
roflcopter
Arro2knee
dovahkin (spelled in a million different ways, I've seen four people with this name today)
Trolol
Rageface

Also anything to do with pot, nobody cares that you like pot, making a username like that just makes you look bloody juvenile because nobody over the age of 16 who does pot thinks they're 'hardcore' for doing so.

And people who use popular anime characters for their names, I mean, I like anime, but I don't see why anyone would want to be referred to as "Ichigo" for the entire duration they spend using that game/website.

Well we all know that lRookiel is the best username/gametag ever made in history.

By the way, the reason I have never put my XBL account on this site is because when I first got XBL I was 11 years old and gave it a stupid fucking name.

The stuff with lots of X's and those color tags for Call of Duty. It's very obvious you like your CoD name to be colored, but in every other game it looks fucking dumb.

So glad for this thread as I HATE username's like that! ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Any person with 'Sniper' in their name I cannot stand! Its even worse when its spelt 'Sn1p3er' (when I see gamertags like that I always use the Yahtzee form of pronounciation).

It really grates me when people use numbers instead of letters! There is no reason! You have access to all the letters of the alphabet! You are not creating a number plate for your car!

I also don't understand putting all the XxXxX at the beginning and end either! Did I miss something or is it just because im too old to understand? (though for once im putting that down as a good thing).

Another constant that pisses me off is when people have MLG gamerpics and names!

Numbers I don't mind as much if they have a purpose like your year of birth or favourite number. My mate's gamertag is Anex13. Can't remember why he chose Anex but the 13 is because he's a massive Fallout fan.

My username/gamertag is what it is beause its a nickname I got at uni (my surname's Palmer), also I couldn't think of anything better!

I have a headache just reading through this thread.

One of my favourite Youtubers, Landan2006 (who does mainly Gears of War commentaries) calls these "sweaty" gamertags and I've taken to calling them that too. When I'm trolling Battlefield 3 with one of my friends, we will go faaaar out of our way to hunt down "sweaties" and give them the teabagging their deserve for having such stupid names. :p

Seriously, why do people have to have tags like (MIGRAINE INBOUND): Xxl3375n1p3ZB17CHxX? My GT on Xbox Live is Deathwatch050 and I'm unhappy enough about the fact that I had to include numbers in there.

Anything which boasts of skill like 'MastarKiller120'

Always seems so arrogant to me. They are always misspelled too. Like the person just HAD TO HAVE that name that they had to mangle the poo out of it.

If I had to pick one, I'd say this guy [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/profiles/view] has a pretty horrid one.

That or the ones that directly reference a game, especially when it's not the game I'm playing.
I wonder if anyone's going to fall for that this time?

For what?

my 2 cents,
Any username that is unpronounceable I feel should be disregarded

I hate anyone that has a username that has a reference to pot in it.

IE:
Blazed
Weedz
Budz
And of course... 420

The reason it bugs me is because the people that include those 'codewords' and others in their tags/usernames think that they're seriously clever. "Look! I've made a reference to the fact that I partake in marijuana! Isn't that so terribly droll?!"

It's like teenagers getting drunk for the first time and doing nothing but talking about how drunk they are. We get it already; you like to drink and smoke pot. The problem is that so does everyone else. So no one really gives a shit.

Ha! Clever reference.

OT: Not much to add what hasn't already been said.
If I can't read it in one go and it takes longer than a second or two to read, it's a shit username/gamertag.

Oh I'm far too opinionated to comment here, and my post would take an entire page...
In short: Numbers, Bookends, 'Leetspeak' and 'skill' related.
If it's unpronounceable, it should not be something to represent you on THE INTERNET.

All the Xs and all the ones with Snipes in it. Also there are things that are common on XBL where it's random adjective + random noun = username.

Like Disturbed Tomato for example. Wat?

Oh there was a guy playing UMVC3 with the name Maximum Wesker. Fucking lol'd so hard when I played the guy... Funny thing is he didn't even have Wesker on the team.
The adjective and noun ones can be Hilarious at times, when done right

Agreed it can look stupid, I prefer to use titles, like The Hero of Time and shit... without actually ever referring to the character. You'd be amazed by the amount of Super Saiyans out there.

:D Me too! I was thinking the same thing!

Back when Bluetooth was popular (that brief period with phones) I changed my phone name to:
-xXx-SeXi-BlOnDe-HoTTi-xXx-

I used to get hilarious messages from blokes in pubs trying to chat me up, and one disturbing cock photo...

When they asked were I was in the pub to 'chat', I used to just direct them to random blondes in the bar and watch the hilarity... Lots of confused faces!

But that is the only time I have ever even considered a name like that!

I used to be on live with a guy who named himself PooeyHoop, that always made me chuckle!

I hate any username that is impossible to pronounce. Just imagine playing a multiplayer game with several other players and you want to talk specifically to the user Xtlkrrrtlksrptt. You can't say his name but other players have to understand you're not talking to them. You could say "guy whose name I can't pronounce" but that only works if there's only one of those guys in the game.

HOW VERY DARE YOU!, my mother named me like this at birth! ...
oh wait... damn tricksy hobbit, YOU TRICKED ME!

Any name with "69" at the end of it, chances are that player will be a)very offensive and rude and b) about 13 years old and a virgin, on KillZone you get a few users with Japanese writing as there names, they are guaranteed to be cheaters/glitchers/lag switching players because try fucking typing there names to report their asses.

I get called a Noob all the time on PSN when I use my "NewClear92" profile, got called a 20 year old ****** the other day, I told him I take it he assumed that 92 was my birth year when in fact I'd chosen the 92 because its the atomic number of uranium which is needed for Nuclear fusion.. get it, NewClear?, I then noobtubed ProPiped him into oblivion.
