I'm getting $30 soon and was thinking of getting a new game or a used one I only have a PS3. Any ideas?

There are games above $30?

Oh right. Consoles...I keep forgetting.

I think Trine is available on PSN. It's an offline co-op game with a lot of physics and platforming.

Hmm... well on a console you're going to have to either pick something that was crap then sold poorly, PSN games (...), or a greatest hits games, which have a bunch of good ones. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Sony_Greatest_Hits_games#PlayStation_3

Gah! I had <link=http://store.steampowered.com/search/?price=0,30>this prepped and everything, ready to win the thread!

I can't help you with PS3, especially not with PSN down.

I would recommend getting Borderlands: Game of the Year addition as I remember seeing copies of them priced at 30 dollars i several stores, and also because Borderlands is pretty fun to play as there's a lot of different mission to do. Also because a lot of the weapons you find in the game have random attachments on them so that way almost every time you find a weapon it will be different in a lot of different ways. There are other interesting features in borderlands, but I'll leave it up to you go find more information on it in case you feel like going out and buying Borderlands.

Demon's's's Soulszzz is junk. Yeah, it's challenging. But it's also a terrible game.

I'd recommend finding something old on the cheap. Batman: Arkham Asylum should be around $30. Maybe GTA:IV or something.

Is it an old phat model or is it the slim? Because there are TONS of fantastic PS2 games for really low prices. PS3 games are harder to find, but Demon's Souls and Valkyria Chronicles can be found for $20 used nowadays.

I would've had a ton of suggestions if the PSN was up, but Flower will have to wait another day.

How is it a bad game? Just curious.

Depends what kind of game your after. I recently got Operation Flashpoint: Red River for £24.99, and it is quite fun. It's a good balance between more arcadey shooters (coD) and those geared towards realism (ArmA and Cold War Crisis). It is also a lot more focused that Dragon Rising was, with clear mission objectives, though unfortunately as a result you lose the kind of free roam of that game.

If you like music games, Amazon are currently selling Warriors of Rock with Guitar for about £30.

Exclusives? Killzone 3 is quite cheap, or you could probably get Uncharted 2, Killzone 2 and Metal Gear Solid 4 for under £30.

Valkyria Chronicles, $23 on Amazon right now. Fantastic game.
I can't play it after 2. At all. 2 is superior in every way but graphics.

OT:

Borderlands. Good shooting mechanics, good RPGs mechanics, good art style, good humor, good DLC, good replay value, good co-op, good solo play.

I might be wrong about this (been a while), but I think the first game had some slightly more ambitious level designs. Fewer cheap/frustrating bosses too. Other than that, yeah.

Wonder when they're planning on getting the third one localized.

My big problem with 1 was the larger level designs. I could spend 2 hours in one battle, and make one mistake at some point, and be forced to fight the same battle again, basically.

Really hate it when CLEARLY AIMED LANCER/ANTI-TANK SHOTS MISS THE FUCKING GIANT TANK FOR NO REASON AT THE END OF A 2 HOUR FIGHT.

Fair enough. There's also the fact that with the larger fields it's a lot easier for enemy lancers to get behind your tank and hit. Because there's never any question of if they can hit, as their lances are made of friendship magic. Most of the time this lead me to leave the tank parked with its radiator against a wall while my scouts did all the work.

My only major argument in favor of the bigger fields is that they're pretty. I guess that goes under "graphics".

Still, that guy who can OHKO any of your troops, has a hammer that inexplicably becomes a machine gun when he's standing around, can run across the ENTIRE field, can resurrect dead troops and dodges everything?

Fuck that guy.

Hmmmmmmm. Okay no ONE's gonna' suggest it?? *siiiiiiigh* I just bought Final Fantasy XIII for $20 new. I know a lot of people pan it here but I really can't see why, it's an excellent game and my favorite of the series so far. All the other good stuff has pretty much already been suggested.

Y'know seeing the parallels between fan reaction to Final Fantasy and the new Dragon Age I think I'll just wait and pick that up in about 10 months for $20 new as well....
