Well, im just curious.
Does color make a difference to you in games?
To me it makes no difference, most of the time its better with little color.

What?
No colours aren't what I like about games...

If I were to buy a crayon set however colour would be very important.

To me, color in video games is like icing on a cake. It tastes good, but whether or not you like it depends entirely on the cake.

You see, color doesn't make games good. It makes them pretty, and stylized. But color doesn't come close to making a game. I mean, imagine if Daikatana was filled with pretty colors. Guess what? It would still be a shitty ass game!

No, I mean games like Gears of War that arent extremely colorful in comparison to games like say.. WoW that are like looking at a rainbow.

Color is very important in any aspect of visual art, but mostly on an unconscious level. Good color use with evoke the right emotions and motives, while bad color use will not. There's whole schools of thought on color theory. It's a very deep subject.

Look at Shadow of the Colossus. Not much color there. (Not much of anything really). But it is still a very emotional, moving experience.

Why should art teams and game developers worry about ALL the possible color combinations and bloom effects when the gaming masses are content thus far with shit-brown and grey environments that are visually uninspriring on every possible level?

I personally like my games with color and depth. I want them to look nice. Too many people use "realism" as an excuse to vomit dark colors all over a game's environments and/or Characters.
