Good lord it's ridiculous.

I'm one of those people who waits a few years after a game's release and picks them up on the cheap or use a friend's disc. So today was my first experience with GTA5 on the PS3. As soon as I booted it up, I was told that I needed to update to the latest system. That's to be expected.

The latest system was 1.26, 21 patches away. That'll be hours of having the PS3 chew up the bandwidth.

I realize that it is an option to ignore them, but I do think it is indicative of a problem. GTA5 seems to be a bit overzealous when it comes to fixing things.

What do you think? Are they justified? Are they wrong in some capacity?

It's not all just fixing things. A big part of games right now is DLC, this is especially true of GTA5 which seems to have some new DLC weapons and vehicles coming out every couple of months, if not more frequently. Every time a DLC comes out there's a patch to integrate them into the game.

Just so we're clear - is the OP actually saying that devs fixing games and/or providing continuous content updates is a bad thing??
