I just got a new iMac desktop and I was wondering what games there are that are decent for the Mac. I am not asking for people to say that I'm an idiot or something for getting a Mac and not a PC, but I got it for digital art and stuff of that nature just to throw that out there. I would like to have some games for my computer however that I can play when my PS3 just isn't cutting it. I am going to get Call of Duty 4, Portal, and probably Counter Strike Source, but I know there are other great games that I am just not thinking of. This is not limited to games on steam though, just any fun games on the computer. Thanks in advance!

Anything from VAVLe really, the ones you mentioned plus Half-Life 2, Left 4 Dead (1&2), and Team Fortress 2 (If you're into that sort of thing).

Also Minecraft, but that's a given. And if you haven't checked out Braid yet then you're seriously deprived.

Bioshock's well worth getting.

Then you've got:
-GTA series
-Starcraft 2
-Dragon age 2
-KOTOR
-Rome total war
-etc.

and a lot of indie games of which I'd recommend:
-Amnesia: the dark descent
-Braid (as above post)
-Machinarium was fun also

On steam killing floor is worth it if you wait till a 75% off sale that happens fairly regularly.
There's a good freeware base too.

EDIT:
The humble indie bundle 3 will come out this year, you should definately take a look at it.

Always check Steam. Valve has a special section devoted to that!
^That. I love especially how Steam has a section devoted for games less than $10 and $5.

The differences between Mac and PC for "digital art and stuff of that nature" are marginal and could be dabated til the sun burns itself out. As for games you can play, check Steam they opened a Mac section last year and have been adding Mac versions, also you have the option of dual-booting or running a Windows virtual machine to be able to play Windows games(I would recommend the dual-boot option if you go this route).

Well, you should consider any gaming on a Mac to be gravy. I only have around 10 or so on my Macbook Pro (The main ones: Team Fortress 2, Knights of the Old Republic, World of Goo, Bit.Trip Beat, and some really super old games that run with emulators).

Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age 2 are on Mac. Direct2Drive and Steam are the only places I know of that have a half-decent selection.

Yeah, if you really want to play games on your computer then you got the wrong brand.

Well yes, but I have always for my entire life used Macs so I'm more accustomed to the interface as well. I also like Final Cut Pro a lot better than Vegas or Avid, and if I really wanted to get them I would just do that dual booting with Windows on my computer, but I won't bother with that. Just adds extra stuff to deal with.

Yeah I know PCs are undoubtedly better for gaming, but again I did not get the computer for games, I was just trying to find some games I could get for it to ease any boredom I have when my PS3 library starts to get stale.

Bootcamp; it's the only real way to fix a Mac and make it suitable. Valve does their best programing for Mac but the same machines in Bootcamp still get 2-4x the performance than in OSX.

Just trying to help. If you want anything outside of the limited selection of games available for the Mac(although it is growing thanks to Valve/Steam) you need to run some form of Windows. Dual-booting and virtual machines are not for everyone but are the only other options available short of buying a Windows box just to game. I was not attacking your choice of the Mac platform in any way and I am more than willing to admit that they make some nice machines but gaming is not a strong point of the Mac OS.

You can get far with just Counter-Strike: Source alone ;)

But yeah, as previously mentioned by Onyxious, who has a great avatar, by the way: I suggest to take a look in the Mac games on Steam [http://store.steampowered.com/browse/mac/?snr=1_4_4__12].

From there I would suggest (besides Counter-Strike: Source), to get... Civilization V ! Wow. I didn't know it was for Mac as well. I deeply recommend that, if you like strategy games, even a little.
