If my copy of Dawn of War 2 ends up getting bricked because of this, I'll be pissed. I can't stand needing to log into GFWL just to play the singleplayer, and if they shut it down and lock me out, I'll be even angrier. Why use the damn thing in the first place?

I'll add to that motion, I still haven't started the second campaign for that game yet.

Third(ed)! DOW2 vanilla and Chaos Rising campaign is far superior to DOW2: ret. They are longer, have more optional missions, more wargear. Best co-op experience to date in my opinion. fantastic game.

I wouldn't be shocked to see them kill the service and put up a new, different one and expect people to welcome it with open arms.

That's almost certainly the plan. Probably some form of cross-platform marketplace and drm scheme for all their platforms. It would offer a 'good' excuse for them to sneak some DRM back onto the XB1 if they did it that way.

I would hate to try to find a crack for it after 2014, because obscure games like this is virus city.

Not if you know where to look. Granted msot people dont, but people who are smart will find ones without viruses if they put effort into it.

I think you'll have more trouble finding a crack in the first place. I didn't even know Viva Pinata HAD a PC release.

Neither did i, but i checked and indeed there is a cracked release out there which is a non-virus (based on community ratings and comments as i havent downloaded it, but its ex demonoid community so their trustworthy.

This would seem to imply that Dark Souls Prepare to Die mulitplayer will end on July 1, 2014 as it also uses GFWL.

This was my only reaction to this story also.

At least this means that even if Namco Bandai wanted to, they can't force GFWL on Dark Souls 2, though I'm not sure what the latest word on the server system for the PC was.

I believe dedicated servers were confirmed, not sure on all the specifics, but apparently it will be better than DS/DeS.

Awesome, maybe now they'll FINALLY release a patch that lets Fallout 3 work on Windows 7.
I bought it months ago but have never been able too play it because of GFWL.
