I'm a diagnosed Schizophrenic, no i'm not an insane murderer.

I'm normal in a basic sense with many friends and such and such.

The one thing that has helped me with my illness is videogames, normally when I have attacks from positive symptoms such as hallucinations or hearing voices I can turn on my 360 and calmly play a few hours of PGR4 until it passes and when it's late at night and can't sleep I whipout the good ol' laptop and have the sims 2 running inbetween posts on the good ol' escapist.

I've never taken medication for it and never plan to but enough of that dumb shit and talking I just want to ask,

Do any of you, my fellow homoscapians have an illness or a disposition or even a bad mood that nothing but gaming can pull you out of? And even better is there a certain game that helps you out the most?

I know for certain that games help me relax. I'm a very paranoid person and have anxiety problems and games just help me calm down.

I did read this interesting article:

The homscapians bit got a chuckle from me.

On topic, whenever I get into a bad mood from work, a nice little round of Lost Odyssey usually does the trick.

I've never had to play video games to help me out with a problem, I suppose I've just been lucky enough for that not to happen to me. Games make me more relaxed and help remove stress but apart from that they do nothing (except entertain).

You might be interested in Child's Play, [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Child%27s_Play_(charity)] a charity created by the guys behind Penny Arcade that gives games and gaming consoles to sick children in Hospitals and whatnot. Kids with games seem to be much happier than those that don't.

sometimes i get so depressed that life is a monotonous grind, that i have to come home and be all important and shit in my own little capital wasteland. really helps fight depression to pretend to live in a post apocalyptic world. lol, counter-intuitiveness for the win!!!

I have the bottling problem. I build up so much rage and depression over time that one small thing can cause me to explode. Playing certain games really help me vent these frustrations.

Rockband usually helps me when im feeling worried :/ that or pacing back and forth...

All ive ever been told is i have "possible autism, although its probably only mild" and low mood and anxiety, so im probably really lucky in that sense

i like to play games when im bored of life, it kinda gives me a boost :p

That's EXACTLY how I feel! I play Fallout three or the sims 2 OR 3 or PGR4 and suddenly i'm (The Racecar driver.) (The lone wanderer.) (Successful and sexy criminal with a mansion) And not the guy people stereotype because they've seen too many movies with the "Lunatic murderer that hears voices." character
