Games like Borderlands, but with melee?

I just got Borderlands, and I like the graphical style, and the randomized, Diablo-style loot, but I'm more of a melee guy than a shooter. So, I was wondering, does anyone know of a game similar to Borderlands, but with a greater emphasis on melee combat? I don't mind dungeon crawlers, but I'm not a fan of the isometric viewpoint, so I'm not the biggest fan of say, Torchlight, or Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance. Although torchlight would be better on PC if I could use a controller, oh well. I just hate controlling everything from movement to attacking with a mouse.

I have all the current gen consoles and a good gaming PC, so, any game suggestions?

EDIT: Maybe I should clarify a bit, that the game doesn't have to be first person. Basically, I want a game like Diablo, or Torchlight, or Borderlands, but non-isometric camera views, and, if it's on PC, to be controller compatible, or easily mapped to a controller.

What this guy said, just be prepared for bugs. Cause I just ran into one about a week ago that wouldn't let me load my game anymore.

I was really wanting to spend less than a full $60... That, and I'm not a big zombie person... Still, I'll keep it in mind. Any other suggestions, people? Also, thanks for the quick replies at 2am!

I would suggest Oblivion, but its a bit more rpg'ish and the level up system is awkward, but if you get past that then you're in for hours of gameplay

Unfortunately for you, a lot of the praise for Borderlands stemmed from the fact that its gameplay was pretty unlike anything that had been made so far. There aren't really any games quite like it. Fallout 3 is similar in that it's a first-person RPG with guns, but the two play extremely differently.

But yeah, Dead Island is the closest you're going to get, even though it's $50-60.

EDIT: Actually, the guy above me made a good point. Oblivion is a first-person RPG with a focus on melee, so that might be right up your alley.

I have the GOTY Deluxe Edition of the game on PC. It's okay, but the world and conversations just don't do a thing for me. Unless there's a mod I'm unaware of to add Diablo style loot...

You aren't really going to find that many games. Oblivion and Dead Island are really the closest. Dark Messiah of Might and Magic may be what you are looking for, but it isn't as good as the other two.

I love that game. Sadly, it's not open world, and I suck at the multiplayer, lol. If I could get DMMM in an open world game, I may never buy another game again.

Guild Wars and Sacred 2 both have chase-cams. Sacred 2 is certainly a Diablo clone, and a great one (IMO) at that.

EDIT: Not personally recommending it, but I think Hellgate London might fit those stated requirements. It felt weak to me for the short bit I played.

I played the crap out of Sacred 2. Good game. Real buggy, though. Same with Guild Wars, sans the bugs.

Glad to hear I wasn't the only one who played that hidden gem.

And yeah, I edited my last post to mention Hellgate.

Did Hellgate: London ever come back to life? I know it was dead for a while, but it was basically Diablo meets FPS with some melee classes.

Hm... Have you played Titan Quest?
It's a hack n slash made to be like Diablo II with much better graphics and it's own setting(greek/roman). It's pretty damn long compared to Diablo II iirc. I played it a lot before and I never even manage to complete the game.
Anyways, it's just like Diablo II, but with a pretty nifty class system.

I believe Flagship Studios didn't make any efforts to ressurect the game. They sold the rights, and after a short while the servers went offline. Found this on Wikipedia though;
"HanbitSoft has since acquired properties to the game and has redeveloped it as Hellgate London: Resurrection. As of June 2011, Hanbitsoft's redesigned game is currently live in Korea,[6] and the North American release, published by subsidiary T3Fun, has undergone (closed) beta testing and open beta testing commenced on June 30, 2011 as free to play."

Well Bastion solves the controller problem since you can just play it on 360 but you're still stuck with the viewpoint issue.

Also Torchlight is in XBLA now but I heard it was a terrible port.

It came back as a pretty fun F2P MMO. Played a bit of it today.
