Games on Android

I've just got a smartphone, yeah been out of the loop techwise for a while...

So I stumbled upon a sort of game by h.a.n.d and Square Enix called Imaginary Range, it's kinda an interactive comic book with minigames and a coin collecting meta game, it's actually quite good and seems to be being released in episodes and I'm hoping they're working on a third.

But praise for one game aside, are there any games on android phones that are good, work well on the phone and is targeted at gamers as opposed to games that you want to play on the bus, like Angry Birds or am I stuck with very little real choice, I keep reading articles about smartphones being the new home of gaming.

EDIT: I shall state that I have a HTC One S and so I dunno if the games vary from phone to phone but yeah

Shadowgun, 6 Guns, Football Manager, and FIFA 12 would be my first recommendations. There's also Max Payne and GTA 3 for full on ports.

Other high quality stuff which I haven't tried yet - Modern Combat series, NOVA, Galaxy on fire, Star Battalion, Dead Space, Battlefield Bad Company, Need for speed, Mass Effect Infiltrator.

Having said that, I don't think any of it is in any way superior to a traditional gaming experience. Proper core titles dont translate very well to playing on a small screen on the move, and more mobile focused games are like going back to the days of the Amiga.

Alright for train or plane journeys though.

Of course, all those are for android, but you didn't specify so I kinda assumed.
