Dragon Age 2: Instead of removing the bad stuff from the first game they made the bad stuff worse and removed the good stuff. Using some crappy op skill in the dungeon that is the exact copy of the previous 4 dungeons and then having stupid 3 choices.

We will never forget "I want to be a dragon."

Gothic (4) - Arcania / Expected a Gothic and an RPG, got neither.
Crysis 2 / What?!
Eve-Online Incarna / And not just because of the 70 dollar monocle
Pariah / Stale SP, Dead Multiplayer
Mount&Blade With Fire and Sword / Doing nothing to improve the engine. Just a big mod you have to pay for.
Dragon Age 2 / FUCK.
Age of Conan / Wanted exciting real-time combat that feels good and skill-full. Didn't get it.
Spellforce 2 / No comment.

Reading these comments, I have found that I am incredibly easy to please when it comes to video games! Haha!
But if I had to pick one that really disappointed me, it would be Fable 3.
Yeah I'm with you. I have never felt disappointed with a game. If I didn't like it or was bored with a game that was it. Well I've never actually 'felt' disappointment, just boredom.

Sonic 4. I'm just glad I didn't buy it, woulda been a waste of money. I'm lucky my friend let me borrow his Xbox Live gamertag so I could play it.

I want to know what games looked great pre-production, but failed to impress you once they were in your hands?
Fable II, it didn't so much disapoint, but downright broke my heart!
I love the first fable, I even bought an xbox on the recomendation of this game, but the second (and don't get me going on the third) hurt so much!

Fallout New Vegas. After the amazing game i found Fallout3 too be it was so disappointing. After 2 weeks of "trying it out to give it a fair go" i sold my collectors edition. I amlost cried at how bad this game sucked when compared to it's predecessor.

Bioshock 2. Nuff Said.
I must agree, I was so excited. It wasn't bad, it was just mediocre.
Yeah, that's the bad thing though. Despite not being bad, Bioshock 2 seemed a lot worse due to the high expectations. However, that can work the other way as well. I walked into Duke Nukem Forever expecting a horrendous wreck of a game, and was pleasantly surprised when met with a mediocre shooter with it's primary drawbacks being technical and design issues. It wasn't that great, but it seemed much better than it actually was due to my low expectations.

Damn, ninja'd at the first post.

Yes, I was going to say Bioshock 2. It was too much of the same: it got really boring really fast.

EDIT: By the way, it would've been fun to see if you would've made this topic a tad later to see how many would've said Skyrim. Because seriously, it just can't be worth the supernatural amount of hype. They never are.

Dragon Age Two. I didn't buy it, I browed it from my dad. Glad I didn't buy it. I played to the end of the first chapter, started the second one, discovered that the story hadn't been advanced in any way other than that I was now a rich and well known mage in a society which actively hates on mages, I had decided to forgive the guy who betrayed me, or atleast had forgotten about him, all of the world's grievences were thrown back into my lap and I realised at that point that I had no motivation at all to continue.

Every single Silent Hill game since Origins, and especially Origins, that game was just unacceptable. Camera was shit and the whole weapon degradation thing was stupid, since when do jack hammers break after a few hits?
Well at least you had 20 tv's in your jacket pocket, right? RIGHT?

Personally, I rather enjoyed DNF, but this was because I wasn't expecting it to be anything other than what it was.

HaloL Reach. I was expecting a story that worked with the series canon, which had been established during 03/04 with the books, as well as characters that weren't about as cliche as 'we'll cross that bridge when we come to it', and something other than whatever that pitiful excuse the main character was.

Brink, I was so hyped for it...
Yeah Brink created much hype using trailers to show off gameplay and such. Homefront was similiar to this as the trailers created a lot of hype towards what turned to be a mediocre game and Brink turned out the same.

Where to start!? And the sad thing is that it's not because any of these are "bad games" per say. Just really hyped up and failed to meet expectations. Bioshock 2, Dragon Age 2 and Spore are my top 3 disappointments.
