Im just playing GTA:SA right now, and i lol'd abit over a radio commercial for home loans when they said that their loans would only end up bad if there was an economical crisis, and that would propably never happen...
I thought that was a little funny since it was made a couple of years before the crisis we have now... Or had? You dont hear much about it anymore...

Anyway, what older games have you been playing that foretold the future in some way?

Due to graphical limitations Deus-Ex didn't display the twin towers on the New-york skyline, so they stated in the games background that they were destroyed by a terrorist attack.

I'm sorry but seriously. Crisis. It's not the game Crysis right now.

...sorry...moving along now...

Edited for your pleasure... :]

But yeah first on my list was Deus Ex. Other than that, I've been sitting here thinking about it, and nothing else comes to mind.

i believe Cod 5 MW 2.5 called it when America gets attacked on its own soil!

EDIT: not trolling, bound to happen eventually right?

Call of Duty 5? You mean CoD: World at War? Which was set during World War 2? A war the United States entered because of an attack on US soil?

It don't count as a prediction if it's made 67 years after the fact :p

Maybe it's just my political leanings talking, but FFVII is interesting to play in hindsight with its comparisons to Global Warming (a way bigger issue now than it ever was in 1997), not to mention the story of a rich son taking over the capitalist society of his father and immediately launching into an oppressive military mode after blaming a terrorist attack on his father's enemies and going hunting for resources while leaving people in the slums to die in poverty. The political subtext you can read into it after the fact is really something.

Mind you, I'm just being silly here. And, no, I don't believe in crackpot 9/11 conspiracy theories. All I'm saying is that if FFVII had been released now, it would be hard not to think that was an unsubtle political point the game was trying to make about the Bush administration.

You can read Nostradamus-style predictions or political subtext into anything if you try hard enough. One of my favourite games to play with my friends is overanalysing a simple premise and proving that it's secretly political propaganda. I've successfully convinced people that Katamari is a statement about the devouring, steamrolling, snowballing nature of unrestrained capitalism and that the rolling ball is a metaphor for megacorporations swallowing up smaller businesses. This is how I bullshit my way through critical essays. =P

Fun, isn't it?

My favorite one is still the one from L4D... the first game ended in the state that won the Super Bowl that year. Then when L4D2 came out, which finished in Georgia, that was the year that they won the Super Bowl... weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeird~

If you want an extra dash of lulz. After Meteorfall, in Advent Children, it's mentioned that they've taken to using oil and fossil fuels, as those are seen as more environmentally friendly than Mako energy.

As for mine: Metal Gear Solid. All this censorship talk of late makes me think of The Patriots La-Li-Lu-Le-Lo.

Aw crap...and now I need scissors...

the reason this was in there because anyone with a brain could tell the housing bubble would burst and people would be screwed.
