why does deus ex get mentioned so much?
there are high-res texture packs for the game and some of the gameplay flaws can just be modded away

Call of Duty 2: Big Red One for the PS2. No, it's not the graphics (which aren't great, but don't look too terrible for what they are) or the gameplay mechanics (which are pretty solid). It's the AI. The AI is stupid, stupid stupid, and not in the so-bad-it's-good way that, say, Star Wars: Battlefront's AI was stupid. It wasn't particularly noticeable when it was released, which is why I say it's aging and not an inherent flaw. However, compared to the AI in comparable modern titles, it kind of hurts what's otherwise still a fairly solid game.

Still not as bad as 3 though.

*Please don't use this as an invitation to go off on modern CoD titles.

I'm ashamed to say it but I couldn't play Torment because of the graphics. I really wanted to, but the pixels were hurting my eyes.
Maybe it's a superfluous question, but did you try modding it a bit so you can run it in higher res? That helps a lot with the pixels.

Deus Ex.

Good god, Deus Ex.
Really? I just replayed it about a month ago in anticipation of the new one and still loved it. Didn't even bother getting the graphics mods. Just Vanilla Deus Ex was still great for me. Oh, well. Chalk it up to taste, I suppose.

FF7, Don't freak out! I still like the game, it has a long intresting campaign, i still think the materia system is the best battle system the series has ever come up with and the world its set in is actually pretty cool. That being said the dialog has not aged well and after an amazing first act the second disc goes down hill (especially golden saucer) and doesn't pick up again until late in the second act.

Also Resident Evil (1-code veronica). I used to love the old Resident Evil games but ever since i played Resident Evil 4 i can't go back to the old ones

Mario Kart 64. Compared to the DS version (pretty close to the same game, graphics pretty comparable) the handling on the karts is just awful.

Anything on the gameboys before backlight, purely because I can't see the damn things (I know this isn't really about consoles that have aged badly, but seriously, how did we live before backlight?). I've gone back to my GBC and played games I remember loving, only to decide I want my eyes to live.

I actually find it really hard to think of games I don't think have aged well. I generally find that if I liked it at the time, I still like it now- its possibly because there are few games I actively stop playing (ie. I got FF7 when it came out, and have subsequently finished it a good 20+ times)and also because when I play an older game, I get in the mindset of the time.

I mean, I still play really old stuff like Legend of Kyrandia, with all its billions of flaws, retro cliches and chunky graphics and enjoy it. Old classics don't deserve to be held up against today's offerings; just enjoyed for what they were, and still are.

As science has shown us, Sequels kill franchises.

The only sequels that I have enjoyed are
Halo 2 and 3
Gears of War 2
Half Life 2, ep1, and ep2
Portal 2
L4D2
TF2
[hey, is it too obvious i'm a valve fanboy?]

all other sequels blew ass IMO, and have ruined their franchises
ALL other sequels? That is quite a lot of games.

Anyway, Age of Empires. I just cannot play it anymore.

Homeworld

Homeworld 2 still manages to look good but the original game looks like it was done in MS paint
+ the controls are so clunky when compared to outer HW games

also the original Starcraft i can see every pixel in the game

You can try the Gibberlings 3 Widescreen mod (for all infinity engine games). Just run the file, enter the res you want and let it work its voodoo magic.

Super Mario 64's still a good game, but it just looks horrible, a bit bland, the water stages are really difficult to navigate and its camera controls aren't very good.

Also, never had a problem with Goldeneye and Perfect Darks controls.

A majority of games on the N64 have not aged well. just visually. not in actual game play.
