No game has made me cry, I have had a few moments that brought me close: Tali finding her father in Mass Effect 2 and Merrill's reaction to losing her clan in Dragon Age 2 come to mind.

OP contributing.

I came close to crying when Nanaki (AKA Red XIII) discovered what happened to his father in FFVII.

I was interested because lots of films make me cry, but I can't think of a game that has actually made me shed a tear.

Oh man. Klonoa:Door to Phantomile is gonna make somebody cry sooner or later.

Your Grandpa dies halfway through the game. And if that doesn't get you, at the end of the game, you get sucked into another dimension against your own will, while Huepow is the one who caused it, who is also unwilling.

This again?

Oh fine.

Ico made me tear up.

Plenty of other games have made me feel sad, maybe even moistened the eyeballs a little, but that's the only one that got an actual tear.

Hmm. No, not that I recall. But I think a certain part (don't want to spoil) of the Half-Life 2 episodes almost left me in tears, can't really remember.

I think I would have felt that way had they not:

Made it so you shout every 5 seconds "Where is she?!", "There's more blood!", "He's got her!" It started to annoy me to the point where I really didn't care, I just wanted the mission to end so my character would shut up.

Oh yeah...
Still, it was a bit of a shock when you couldn't save her

Tali finding her father. That is what done it for me. Listen to her. Seriously! If you didn't feel the need to hug her (which is given as an option in the ensuing Paragon Interrupt!),you have the darkest, most hardened soul in existance.

I've never cried but I came incredibly close when The Boss died in MGS3. Making you pull the trigger, mixed with some of the best music in video game history, was just beautiful

No game has ever made me cry. But the game that ever came the closest was Heavy Rain with Ethan.

Probally DAII.

When Vailene's (Sorry if I spelt that wrong. I've only been playing the game for 'bout an hour) husband dies. What makes it so depressing, is that it was at the hands of her, and there was nothing she could so about it. Just depressing.

Bayonetta. Just...sobbing...so sad...the whole thing...just, so sad...

Seriously, though (to use a genuine example) I wasn't particularly fond of Fable III (considering it was basically Fable II with few extra features that I didn't like), but...

The ending, with Walter, dying in the Hero's arms after defeating the Crawler and the whole "Teach me to be a hero" bit to mirror the beginning. I saw it coming, but it was one of the things that Lionhead got right. I shed a manly tear.
