I'd like to throw another vote for the following:
Metal Gear Solid 4
Final Fantasy 8
Portal
Heavy Rain
Uncharted 1, 2, and 3 (haven't played Golden Abyss)

I'd like to add the following:
The Suffering
Wild ARMs
Earthbound

Red dead redemption's ending was great. Something so rarely done in games and it felt so cinematic. That is, discounting the bit after where you play as Jack, such a step down from the badass that is John.

The first one that pops into my head is Fallout: New Vegas.

It told me everything I wanted to know about the land, factions and characters and even stuff I didn't expect (such as the DLC endings). The fact that it is translated by relevant characters also adds to the satisfaction.

Phantasy star online episodes 1 and 2, the fact that nothing had to be said and you just knew the implications of what happened. Such a strong story without having much text was amazing.

I would also have to say tales of symphonia and golden sun the lost age. Also bastion and majora's mask.

The good karma ending to Infamous 2 is pretty f-ing sweet :)

However, fighting Nix on the bad ending is probably one of the best boss fights ever, it actually feels like super hero fight :)

Satisfying endings, eh? Too many to count, but as of late, I'll go with inFamous 2.

FTW

EDIT: blah blah blah... here's some extra shit so i don't get flagged for the ridiculous low content post.

Mass Effect 1 nailed the ending for me. I remember as soon as the credits started rolling with M4, Part 2 playing I laid back, took a deep breath and smiled thinking to myself, "That was fucking awesome."

Neverwinter Nights: Hordes of the Underdark. Ending can be solved by simply TALKING DOWN the last boss. Or you can fight. However you like it.

Diablo 2, somewhat satisfying.

Shin Megami Tensei games... when there is no cliffhanger. TALKING TO YOU DIGITAL DEVIL.

Lots of games, hard to say which, because a lot are good. Those that ARE bad, tend to stick out...

I'd say the Anarch/Lone Wolf endings in Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines were strangely satisfying, especially lone wolf :D

Not for being all that long or well explained, but I honestly didn't see that coming.

Ghost Trick and 999 for the DS had great endings.
Also, the ending of Limbo of the Lost. Words cannot describe it. Don't get me wrong, the game is still horrible but.. Just see for yourself.

Nothing's come close to Darksiders ending for me personally, so much badass I immediatly grew hair on my chest.

Persona 3+4 are both great.
Also getting one of the bad endings for Disgea is fucking heartbreaking because it's so easy to do and there's such a massive shift in tone.

Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days have two of my faovrite video game endings ever.

Also, Portal 2.

EDIT: The entire Metal Gear series, and the PlayStation Trilogy of Final Fantasy games.

Deus Ex - showing that being able to choose an ending regardless of how you played the game prior isn't necessarily a bad thing.

captcha - believe me.
I think the thing that's best about it is that the guy's name is JC and they've made no point of hiding the fact that he's a MessianicArchetype. One of the main themes of Christian philosophy is that there is never any point too late for redemption. Translation: Play the game how you want, you always have the choice to change. It's perfect.

Deus Ex, definitely. Each of the endings is plausible in its own way, and I find that now when I replay it I have a specific one in mind. This colors the way I play through the whole thing - the choices I make, the allegiances I put stock in, etc.

Also found FFIX's ending to be very satisfying. That game took some turns at the end that I wasn't expecting at all.

Then there's Portal - there wasn't any one thing that was brilliant about the ending, but the way the whole experience concluded left me with a huge grin on my face.
