Devil May Cry 1 & 3 - A lot of people my not remember this, but barely after the first game was announced, almost every gaming magazine or show had some cover of the then new upcoming franchise. It being a new IP at the time from Capcom and staff behind RE 2 was definitely a big factor.

Bayonetta 1 & 2.

Resident Evil 4

Halo 1 & 2 - I was never a fan of the series, but brought many things to the table for console gaming. I'll admit that.

GTA III & Vice City - Not so much with San Adreas (hate this game), IV, and V. Though I stopped caring for sanbox games after Saints Row 2 and Prototype.

Bioshock 1

Dead Space 1

Metal Gear Rising

I remember the hype about Morrowind. Although a non-random Daggerfall did sound weird, it still sounded awesome. Still not as expansive or as good as a story as Daggerfall but the world was more interconnected. It met the hype.

Witcher 3, Command & Conquer 3, Deus Ex (the Ion Storm original), Space Marine, Batman Arkham Asylum/City, and Bayonetta.

Never did buy in the hype for Mass Effect oddly enough. I only bought the game because there was all that controversy surrounding it. But I enjoyed the game immensely nonetheless. I did like ME2, even though it felt disappointing (overall), and as for 3, the poor story made it the least enjoyable (though the game itself was fun). Hype is one of things that just makes the disappointment hurt more if the game fails.

Overwatch.

It is like a breath of fresh air against all of the gritty realism and try hards fixated on K:D ratios.

Bright stylised visuals and having to work as a team? What, constant, free balances and up dates? No season pass? Hitting cheaters with the ban hammer? Varied attacks and abilities rather than picking between guns with sl?ghtly different rates of fire? I could go on and on.

Id just resigned myself to missing half of every game I ever play again behind DLC. Then Overwatch strolled along.

Worth every penny.
