Gears already IS halo, but in third person, and instead of jumping you roll around on the ground.

Seriously, go play a match in gears of war right now. The primary tactic on online play is to run up to your opponent and blast them in the face with the shotgun. It's not to use cover and tactically move around the map, flanking your opponent's cover as a team, it's run in rambo with a shotgun.

What you're describing is how Gears was intended to be played, but not how it is. The only time you ever see someone actually use cover is if they have the sniper rifle.

So you're saying something should be added to the game that causes people to play it in the exact opposite way that the developers intended? Whatever floats your boat I guess....

Not enough games use them correctly, you should be able to shoot over vast distances at high speeds, not just jump abnormally high without any kind of horizontal speed increase!
Very few games get this, mostly just Tribes.
Also, they need to make a sandbox game based around having a jetpack, and various upgrades etc. that can be bought.
