Games that should have been good

There are always those games that are hyped up to the extreme and then let you down completely when you finally get your hands on them. For me, this was the Halo series, but in particular Halo ODST. Great idea, crap execution, so in your opinion, what games should have been good, but turned out naff

I actually thought ODST was very well excecuted.
But hey your opinion is your right and let's not go down that road...

OT: I think Turok, the recent reboot, could have been a lot better. I had gone crazy at the idea of getting to fight dinosaurs and use the jungle and stealth past enemies and use the environment to my advantage. I had pictured a game similar to the King Kong game wherein you could be killed very easily and would have to use bait or fire and had to take everything very steathily.

Instead I got an FPS where the standard dinosaurs posed no threat whatsoever because you had an instant kill knife attack and a boring array of poorly concieved gunfights. The dinosaurs looked fantastic but everything else just fell to pieces, there wasn't really a sense of vulnerability as such. The closest the game got to feeling like you were fighting for your life was when they just spammed enemies at you.
Seriously, I was very dissapointed.

That said my opinion is my own and I mean no offence to any would be fans.

I tried Dragon Age, expecting it to be near Baldur's Gate quality.

I really felt like I had been kicked in the balls there...

Every game I have brought has lived up to my expectations, even games that are known as "bad" around here, for example GTA4 and Far Cry2.

Well this guy has just said the exact 2 games that were a massive let down for me.
Also LittleBigPlanet, my fault though really.. I'm not very creative.

Wow i agree with you 100% but i'll say more just so i dont get the stink eye from the mods.

The game should have been great but what you got was a very shallow experience you could make diverse creatures and that was cool but after playing the game for awhile it was clear the creature editor was the main focus of development and the actual game stuff secondary.

Made me sad i pre-ordered the game... disappointed about sums up my reaction after i got to the center of the galaxy.
