Some games are fine just as they are, and should best be left untouched to shine and glisten in the halls of video game history. What game do you think shouldn't have a sequel, or didn't need a sequel?

Lumines. The sequel basically ruined what was good about the first one with lame attempts at adding in pop/rap/whatever-else-that-doesn't-fit-with-the-game music videos. Its not like it even needed a sequel; puzzle games don't tend to have a storyline, especially not one that requires a second game.

Not to say it shouldn't have a sequel, because it's all there for one, but Gears of War is a game I really thought would just be a one-off, which I liked the idea of.

Super Mario Brothers.

I know I know big franchise etc. etc. but the games just went down hill after SMB in my not so humble opinion.

GoW: Yeah I know it's sequel is already on the horizon, but I wasn't that much of a fan of the game to begin with, and I feel a sequel is only going to fill all the holes to a story I don't even care about.

Final Fantasy X: It's a final fantasy game, IT'S NOT SUPPOSED TO HAVE A DIRECT SEQUEL... This goes for FF7 which has had it's sequel as a movie (although I enjoyed it) and it's prequels made into a game and short animated film.

Not to knitpick, but "Gears of War" is "GeOW," simply because "God of War" was out first, and had the abbreviation of "GoW" first. Sorry if I sounded rude.

Anyway, onto the actual question... how about "Drakengard." It was a Hack and Slash game of unusual Depth, with about 70 weapons to choose from and level up, a Dragon that could get to 3 main and 1 hidden level, and 5 diffrerent endings (and very little story). It also had a bunch of playable side characters. All in all, a very good game with high production values and a was a lot of fun. And then they made the second. And it was boring. They tried to give it more of a story, and failed. The combat also seemed more lackluster, but that could have just been me.

Psychonauts. No sequel yet, hope it stays that way.

Kingdom Hearts. I absolutely loved playing the first one, it was a great game. The second one was a total travesty, completely painful to play through. I think it only such a rave because of the fandom of KH1.

Destroy All Humans. I know it has one, it just doesn't seem like a game that would work well with a sequel...

The question should be 'What sequels don't you like?' because, unlike movies, thanks to their reliance on quickly advancing technologies videogame sequels are usually better than their predecessor. I'm inclined to say BioShock shouldn't have a sequel as I can't imagine getting a better experience from a videogame; but then I could (and probably would) be denying myself one of the best follow-ups ever made.

Halo:CE The other two were poor, to say the least, let me imagine how it ends don't just make it rubbish Bungie!

Bioshock. Really, really doesn't need a sequel, I really hope they don't make one as I can't see it being as good as the first.

Time Splitters 2. Brilliant game with a rubbish sequel.

Deus Ex. Oh dear lord! How bad was Invisible Wars?! Way to ruin my favourite game ever!

Mario Kart 64. They've all been more or less the same since that one, so why bother?

Really? I found the second one to be pretty good. You aren't talking about KH: Chain of Memories, right? Just KH2? Ah well, I heard quite a few people found the second game to suck. I myself thought it was fun, but nothing compared to the first.

As for my thoughts as to games that shouldn't have sequels, I say GTA, as I don't want it to become a series milked out of all its worth.

And, yes Bioshock. It's not the type of game for a sequal, since all the loose ends are tied up by the end of the game.

Good news! They already announced a third game.

Portal.
It was unexpected, short and amazing. And now it's done, finished. Make level packs maybe, but if it's made into a 20 hour spanning portal adventure vs the Mother-Glados, I'm out.

A third? I knew a second was in the works but I was trying to pretend it wasn't happening.... not a tactic that has ever worked so far in my life.

Crysis.

And yes, I know there are going to be 2 more coming but I still say they shouldn't have any sequels.
