Games That Were Announced But Never Released

I remember a game that was announced several years ago called Edge Of Twilight. It was an action adventure game set in a futuristic steampunk world where the world was split in to a light and dark world. In the light world people lived their normal steampunky lives, but the dark was filled with evil demons. The protagonist had the unique ability to switch between these two realms by changing form between a human and a monster himself. This switching mechanic was supposed to play a big part in puzzle solving in the game. The game looked to cool and so unique and I was really looking forward to it, then everything dried up and the game was never finished.

So Escapist, what games have you been excited to play which never saw the light of day?

Blade Kitten part 2.

The teasers made the story look a tad iffy, but I want to find out how it ends.

Star Was Battlefront 3, they teased us with stuff and then ran out of money. Now it looks like there's no plans to release another Battlefront game, which really sucks.

6 DAYS IN MOTHERFUCKING FALLUJAH

Although it sorta doesn't fit in this thread because it was announced and made, and then Konami ditched and left a finished product without a publisher, because of some media noise because it's based on a real conflict.
So they went and made Breach and not a single fuck was given.

I knew someone would say that. No surprise it was the first answer.

This Is Vegas. It looked awesome! It was midways most expensive game ever and was in development for over 3 years costing upwards of 50 million dollars before they went under and were forced to cancel. Open World crime/adventure/gambling game. I would have bought it!
Oh yeah I remember that game! Looked kind of cool but I was never convinced it was anything more than a GTA ripoff.

I Am Alive and Beyond Good & Evil 2.

Both to be published by Ubisoft, both announced, both put out some extremely interesting promotional material, followed by lots and lots of absolutely nothing.

I think it would have been neat if the original concept for Dinosaur Planet (later known as Star Fox Adventures: Dinosaur Planet) saw the light of day on the N64, without Nintendo's insistence that Star Fox characters be shoehorned in for no good reason. Having Krystal as the protagonist would have been a more appropriate choice than Fox McCloud. Her original incarnation was also less of a blatant furry fanservice character:
Speaking of Star Fox, it would have been awesome if Nintendo had decided to release Star Fox 2 for the SNES. The game was basically finished, but they decided to pull the plug and focus their marketing efforts on the upcoming Star Fox 64 instead. It's a real shame too, because the game boasted some awesome features that the N64 version lacked, such as choosing to be a team member other than Fox and being able to turn your Arwing into a walking mech at the press of a button.

I'm pretty sure I Am Alive is still set for release. They released a trailer not long ago and there was the talk about the PC version as well, right?

This was the game I thought of before I had even clicked on the thread.

Huh, I never even knew this was announced, but too bad, Freelancer was a pretty cool game.

I also really wonder what Fallout: Van Buren would have been like. Still, a lot of it was used in Fallout: New Vegas, which kicked ass, so that's alright.

FUCK THE PC PEOPLE. Is pretty much what they said about a PC release for I Am Alive.

As for me. C&C Tiberium I believe the name was. It was supposed to be a squad based FPS in the world of Command and Conquer. Shame it was cancelled seemed like it would be fun.

At first it seemed like that but they released a follow up statement saying that it was a mis-translation and they are still trying to make a PC version, but it's a pain in the arse doing it because of trying to protect against piracy and yada yada yada.

Dead Phoenix looked kind of neat and I'm still bummed that white wolf never made their werewolf game.
